Loss of KK hurts the most

I don't know what anyone else thinks but I personally feel that the loss of Kris Keating is the biggest loss to the Eels. By this I don't mean Mateo and Inu are worthless, far from it, but the money that the warriors are offering we couldn't really compete with, plus we have an abundance of great players to throw in their positions, but with Keating we could have matched the offer the dogs were paying him and he's been playing better than Mortimer this year; good kicker, strong runner, tough defence ....you get my drift, what does everyone else think?

  • Jayman, I think losing both KK and Mateo is a body blow.

Mateo has an x-factor with his jinking runs and offloads, whilst KK provides a spark of creative energy.

Both are underrated by the people that count at the eels.
  • x 2. Like previously said, we didnt need to offer Mateo the money that the warriors were offering for him to stay. He was worth it and besides we now apparently have so much money and no signed up players, we could have kept our whole squad if we had wanted to. Salary cap issues my ass!
  • kk can really stick it to parra now he has a chance to proove them wrong if we keep winning
  • well ive always thought kk was our future at 7 and before he broke hes jaw im 100% sure he would have been but bullshit intervened and we lost a future star
  • Yes the loss of KK hurts, if the money $180K is correct than this has turned out to be a bad decision.KK has the utility value that is very important. I see KK as a perfect 14, I don't see him as a premiership winning half but as a useful player that can play 80 mins at 9, 6,or 7 if required due to injuries etc. I may be a bad judge but I can't see how Daniel Mortimer has more potential than KK.

Mateo! oh Mateo! what a brilliant skillful gem of a player! such skill in a big man is a rare as........as rare as ........Jarrayd Hayne!

Some people on this forum are critical of Mateo saying he runs hot & cold, well as much as i support coach DA I see this as a failure of the coach to harness and nurture a bright spark. Sometimes players (and all adults) like Children just need that attention and recognition, they need someone to "salute" their flag, the right word at the right time and they will perform for you, they will try to please you, its called people management and it is required in all sporting teams and when you employ people.

Just like the loss of Kingston has really hurt our team this year i fear that the loss of Mateo (unless we get a Quade Cooper or Cronk) will be too big a hole to fill and we will all be very angry in 12 months time!
  • IMO mateo is the biggest loss kk an inu are replaceable it may not seem like it atm but morts will be better in the long term than kk IMO that is.
  • kk HAS ALWAYS BEEN BETTER THAN MORTS, he is talent, watch him go great guns nxt year,

Mateo and Inu also to shine
  • What really shits me is that Keating took the $180k offer from the Dogs, how low was our offer if we even made one??
  • Yeah I know it's just makes you shake your head and raise an eyebrow then shrug your shoulders, kick the dog, swear and then vent on 1 eyed
  • agree. I met Mateo here in PNG after he starred single-handedly for Tonga inthe Pacific Cup. He spoke about 2010 in the Blue & Gold with pride. Bring him back when we can!!!!

"I think Joash is a good player, but from what I've seen only at fullback or on the wing. Those positions we've got pretty well covered, so I guess he's a great back up option. I'd like to see him in 1st grade, but I dont know how he fits in?"
