  • That sucks now we get nothing for his early release.2 yr deal basically negates any chance of us getting any sought of recruitment opportunity. We still have big holes in our outside backs takent wise to fill.

Losing Russell and Pezet next year also.Need to be identifying and improving the roster in the given spots.

    • This

    • Though i have said i disagree taking the Melbourne deal, i do agree we missed out not getting something for him.

    • If Lomax is the superstar PVL and the NRL needed to keep, then why haven't other clubs come knocking down our door? Lomax is just a winger.

So back to the drawing board.

Pezet won't be a loss. IMO it would have been better blooding Lorenzo or just give Papalii a real go at no.6. This Pezet reminds me of another Kyle Flanagan/Lachlan Ilias type player. We need a running no.6, not a Kyle Flanagan.
If Tago is out of favour at Penrith, Ryles needs to make him a priority. He's a specialist centre and better than what we have in our backline.

Looking a little further ahead, 2027, we should be targeting Campbell Graham, Bradman Best or Bronson Xerri. Those clubs would be struggling with their salary caps.

      • Zip, I'd prefer Apa Twidle to debut as our 6 in the near future.

This guy is as good as a halfback as he is a fullback, and it's because he's a footballer and a leader. He's got time, selective in his passing, poised and composed at all time. He led us to the choclates on thursday in cup.

If he's not signed long term, and I don't know if he is, he should be  and if we hold off other clubs from luring him away, he'll eventually be our long term half-back and a great for the club I have not a doubt.

He's a great goalkicker as well.

        • That's a great shout Richard. Lorenzo is a 6 through and through. Apa is a 6 and 7 and 1. He reminds me a little of Jahrome Hughes, not saying he will be Hughes but could be transformed into a class 7 with time and care. I want him to debut so he stays. Surely 14 spot at some point.

          • Apa also seems to also have bigger physique. Maybe him and Lorenzo will be the bright Eels future

            • Well he has the size to play Centre but also Lock. Thats why 14, when his defence is better, is perfect for him right now. Be that Walker type link man. But I can see him being the 6 then 7 once Moses goes. He is just a footballer. Confident in his abilities, has a kick, pass and running game.

      • I think Pezet was always a stop gap solution that landed at the right time. The development players were always the longer term plans, and if they are good enough this season, I can't see why Ryles wouldn't give them some game time towards the end of this season.

Agreed, though we still need outside backs. You could argue that wingers and not centres are the modern day game breakers. You want your centres to be defensively sound and provide support to their wingers. Do we have anyone in the lower grades who fits that bill? If not, we definitely should be looking at bringing someone in.

  • So he ain't going to be traded to anyone. Oh well, if we can't have him nobody can.

But his name is poision. Clubs do not want to touch him.
