Lomax's management confident of deal

Common sense? Right so he is the victim here? Right i see. Also Clint Newton has said the RLPA will not allow Lomax to be used as a barganing chip. Newton who knows best for the sport is hoping Lomax get's off scott free so his players can do the same. NRL are walking a very fine line here if they let Lomax get off with this and overule Parramatta it will set a precedence for all other players.

I didn't believe it but i do now that there is a chance NRL come in and give us a "Just let him go" lecture. V'Landys only sees the mouth watering publication of Lomax against Parra round 1 he can feast off. NRL should say "We support Parramatta in what they choose to do". Simple as that.

Though we lack that figure head the likes of Melbourne, Roosters and Dogs have where they bitch and moan and the NRL come in to tell the other party to pull their heads in.

Common sense, seriously.

  • The RLPA’s statement yesterday was interesting: Lomax has “full rights” to see out his deal at Parra and shouldn’t be “horse-traded”.

But it was Lomax who sought a release to pursue R360; something Jim Sarantinos publicly confirmed a few days ago. This was not the club tapping him on the shoulder, even if they clearly weren't impressed.

Lomax's agents have painted Lomax a victim of circumstances: R360, Saints and the Eels; appealing to V'landy's support and the narrative of players being hoodwinked by R360. That despite R360 claiming it was Lomax and NRL agents chasing them for a big payday.

Now let’s see what V'landys says or does. No doubt the broadcasters and gambling bodies would happily lap up a Lomax vs Eels Round 1 soap opera.

The NRL/ARLC won’t enjoy this dragging on. Prolonged, escalating drama makes them look weak: weaker even than during the Sonny Bill Williams contract saga under David Gallop.

That reputational risk, time and the law, is our leverage.

  • We have Jim our saviour ..... ffs

  • Stick to your guns Jim's made the clubs position very clear to his credit to me all the rest is outside noise we control the narrative here treat all the rest for what it is talk.

If there serious we do what's best for us we aren't in the charity business and if Melbourne want him start ponying up players we want not your discards either.

    • I love how many are like "Parra want this, they aren't getting it" where I reply "fine they don't get Lomax then".

  • Common sense don't mean sh*t!

Keep your foot on Lomax's legal neck Jim. Prove to members and fans you are the guy.

  • I think it means that the players parra want from the Storm arent the ones to be used in the apparent 'horse trading' in the Lomax saga. This is about to get really messy and Parra need to come out and say that Lomax is welcome to pull back on the Parra jersey and leave it with him

    • They should say he is free to become a centre half back for Geelong instead.

  • The word selfish comes to mind when the RLPA via Clint Netwon talking about horse trading and the Eels wanting a like for like player from Melbourne. Newton is quoted as saying "that  contracted players have the right to see out their deals, and said he expected clubs to respect that principle throughout negotiations.

But let's not worry about Lomax breaking 2 contracts in as many years and not seeing out his deals. Surely what is good for the players is also good for the clubs and by extension the fans, to expect the same. Continuing to Piss the fans off is a quick fire way to destroy the league. Isn't it.

Stay Strong Jim Sarantinos, your doing the right thing by the club, the fans and League in general.

  • The Eels can't buckle here. They did right by Zac when he asked to leave and now he needs to understand that he and whatever club he wants to go to, need to do right by the Eels. It's not a one way street where the Eels just loose and get nothing in return.

  • We can probably start suggesting a third club to trade Lomax to, or a third club to get us a player, that club gets someone from Melbourne, and Melbourne get Lomax.

Thing is, we have prepared without him. We can start our season with the options we've wanted all along. We are not in a hurry. This can drag yet methinks.
