Exactly. We are losing a winger, not the best prop in the game or a fullback, other clubs are going to be hit harder than us by this r360.
Let's be realistic about this, the only thing lomax gave us last season was good yardage and a high work rate, he has no speed, was not an asset to our attack, poor defence and his goal kicking was terrible for modern standards. We weren't getting $650k value out of him and that's why the club let him go without a fight.
We will need to find an experienced replacement though for this season.
I mean true, some here value Wingers highly fair enough. To me i feel they are important but other positions are way more important. I even felt $650k was too much for a Winger, but only slightly. The only Winger at the moment i would feel comfortable giving that money to is Brian To'o.
I wonder what it would take to get Murray Taulagi down here.
I can't understand how this club can't produce wingers, ever other club has a stack of wingers waiting for an opportunity but we can't even produce one. Lomax recruited, addo-carr recruited, simmonson recruited, sivo recruited, even semi was recruited but without first grade experience.
As for the value of wingers today, I believe strong yardage wingers have gone past the importance of strike centres. One thing the Eels have had recent success with is finding quality wingers. Both Semi and Sivo come to mind. Send some recruits over to Fiji and find some potentially good wingers at minimal cost and develop them for the next 12 months.
"IMO, Jamie Lyon was the biggest loss to the Parra club. He was only young too. Could have built the team around him for many years. I doubt Manly would have been as successful without him. The other losses worth a mention, was big Semi and Hayne…"

Cowboys not offering him a deal for 27 so maybe we could get him a year early.
Really? Where did you see that? I would be entertaining that quickly.

That is an issue, most clubs have wingers in development and overloaded with them. Eels just seem to have forwards and halves
The last great winger we developed was who?
Honestly prob inu and Hayne when the broke onto the scene. We haven't really had anything of that level since

Can't argue with any of that.
