Lolohea asks for a release

Tuimoala Lolohea is believed to have requested a release from the remainder of his contract with the Warriors. The talented young half looks set to have limited playing time in 2017, playing as a utility option coming off the bench, with new star recruit Kieran Foran looking likely to partner Shaun Johnson in the halves in 2017.There would be no shortage of clubs for Lolohea to choose from, whether it be from the NRL or English Super League.Lolohea is contracted to the Warriors until the end of 2018, but several clubs have made inquiries about his availability after he was used sparingly by coach Andrew McFadden in the 2016 season. With new coach Stephen Kearney now at the helm at the Warriors it is understood that Lolohea will have limited time on the ground in 2017.It is understood that the 21-year-old is frustrated by the lack of opportunities, but at the end of the 2016 season, a diplomatic Lolohea stated he wants to remain at the Warriors “forever”. However, with Foran now Johnson’s partner in crime in the halves, Lolohea has since changed his mind after again being overlooked for a starting spot.Possible Landing Spots for Lolohea in 2017:st-george-illawarra-dragons.pngNRLSt George-Illawarra: are looking for a replacement for Benji Marshall and a quality half to team up with Gareth Widdop. Drew Hutchison is expected to team up with Widdop at this stage, but if Lolohea was available the Dragons would not hesitate to sign Lolohea to join Widdop.parramatta-eels.pngNRLParramatta: In what could be a straight swap (Foran/Lolohea), it would be an exciting pairing of Norman and Lolohea for 2017. Clint Gutherson is believed to be currently the man to partner Norman with Ben Hunt rumoured to take over the role from 2018 as he has been heavily linked to the club which may restrict the Eels to afford Lolohea.melbourne-storm (1).pngNRLMelbourne. With the departure of Blake Green to Manly, Cameron Munster is expected to get first crack to partner Cooper Cronk in the halves, with star fullback Billy Slater expected to make a return from his troubled shoulder injury that kept him out of the 2016 season. But there is some concern with Slater and his ability to continue to play at the top level. If Slater injures that should again, it would end his career, moving Munster back to fullback where he starred in 2016 and free a spot up for the Lolohea to partner the 2016 Dally M winner. The chance to play along side Cooper Cronk arguably the best halfback in the game today and to be coached by Craig Bellamy it would be a hard prospect to say no too. We believe this would be Lolohea’s best fit in 2017.Should parra chase him?

  • Baz, where is this article from..? Ben Hunt in 2018....? More rumours.
  • The warriors may have a better half coming through
If Foran and Johnson sign long term then he would have to leave
    Can't remember his name
    • Ata Hingano?

  • Yeah I would sign him for around 500k a season. With warriors to pay some of the wage for next year
    • No Lolohea is asking for a release, not the club trying to shop him around so Warriors won't be paying anything.

    • This is why fans don't broker contracts. 500k for a kid that struggled to crack a bench spot. One that is even more rocks than diamonds.
  • No. Lolohea is a very average player at best, and is beyond ordinary in the Halves. As for a Wing spot? Yes. Anything else? No.
    • bullshit

    • You have no idea
  • The guy is Sandow the 2nd,

guy needs to prove himself before he gets a fulltime halves spot. Think his desting is NSW cup for awhile
