Not sure Australia is fairly up tight these days mate. Were we previously have been ahead of the curve with progressive reforms. So not sure when but It is probably inevitable I'd say we will catch up eventually and end up with laws similar to Canada would be my guess.
I havent read it thoroughly but am told the legalization is similar to that of tobacco in Australia were it is legal to buy it but not grow it in your backyard etc. I think that makes sense as you would also need to look at laws similar to drink driving I would have thought with how much can someone have and drive ? If it is grown by licensed growers who try to adhere to a particular strength from that you can work out how much of that someone can have and drive or how long after having X amount until they can drive. A lot harder to do that if everyone is growing varying strength stuff at home.
There is plenty of evidence out there online that shows essentially criminalisation of drug use has been pretty useless with keeping the rate of drug use down. The only countries that are making progress are those that have chosen to stop treating it as something that is illegal and rather as a health issue. There would be plenty of people on this site who have taken drugs, arnt addicted to them and have never commited any other crime than taking drugs with friends to have a good time. Likely they have never been caught taking drugs either and have an absolute clean record.
If you make it legal then at least some of the money for it is taxed which goes to government services like police , healthcare & rehabilitation programs who help those who do have an addiction and will likely need those services. Whether it is legal or not there will still be a high number of people in society who take them but with a small number that have issues with it . Pretending making it illegal stops people doing it is just
Why would you want them too??Look at what they have done to the price of alcohol with their endless tax. Back in the 80’s a ounce of weed was more expensive than an ounce of gold. 30 years later gold is $1,200, an ounce pot is between $400-$600 depending on quality. Even the criminals are not as corrupt as the tax man!!!
UN singular convention on narcotic drugs has been around since early 1960s and has Marijauna included in the main part. So it has been illegal since then. Not just the price but if illegal no quality control so you don’t know what pesticides and fungal/bacterial contamination you are smoking/eating.
UN allows Cannabis for research and medicinal purposes only. I doubt many countries are allowing it for recreational use. Although some may not be checking very carefully the medical reasons health professionals are prescribing it for. As I said those countries with medical exports of illegal drugs need to be more careful of bending the rules.
"What a prick of a reply, he checked out halfway but still got picked for the Australian side and subsquently withdrew because he was carrying an injury (he probably could have hidden to go on the tour) he showed his character by not doing that but…"
"Via Parra he has, that's for sure....I'm not sure if other clubs have an issue outside the RC360 level.
This has become a much more personal style of issue for Parra. It come's about purely that he broke his contract and I'm not sure anyone outside…"
"Pops, We are better with Lomax the Lion if his heart were fully on the bus, rather than being a cat on a hot tin roof. If he comes back to NRL, some clubs may take a punt on him and who knows if we would, but he's done some damage to his NRL brand."
"Love the input HOE and very well said. Pops your spot on with a lot of what your suggesting, and Coryn nails it as well.
I was oblivious to Lomax beating to his own drum, oblivious to the suggestion he wasn't a team first guy.
There are points made…"

We can’t and it’s not our decision.
The UN convention prohibits legalisation except for medicinal use.
In Canada they have given doctors and nurses the power to “prescribe” it for any medical reason they see fit
We need to be more careful as the UN could shut down our medical narcotic exports

wile, I do not profess to be an expert on international drug laws. However, a quick google search shows how many countries are not following the UN.
