Lee Te Maari

Where was he and how many minutes did he play? I saw him at the end but only once.

  • You did well to spot him. He got less minutes than Tim in Origin.
  • Wonder why that was?
    • Who would you have taken minutes off? All our back rowers played well. When you have four forwards on the bench, you're always going to have someone play few minutes.

I think Te Maari's utility status, made his a good fit this week. If Kris got tired, apparently Mortimer was going to go to dummy half and one would presume Feleti into five-eighth. And Lee would have given us that attacking lock role. But with Kris playing the full eighty minutes, we just didn't need that.
  • I wouldn't have taken minutes from anybody. I think the decision to play him so sparingly was a good one, now that you present the argument the way you do. I was just looking forward to seeing the new guy play. :) I think Horo would make an excellent replacement for Mateo if Anderson decided to go that way. Shackleton could replace Horo as a 2nd rower with Ben Smith and Hindmarsh all putting in their great efforts, but who will replace Cayless? Do you bring on Shackleton as a prop (he's got the size hasn't he?) and then look for another 2nd rower, maybe Te Maari?
    • Manase Manuokafoa is also a prop but he hasn't been able to make the 1st grade side for us besides NZ, yeah? What about Pele as a prop, lots of people talk him up?
      • I'm not sure they actually do talk him up any more. At the start of the year there was some hype about the new guy with the big hair. Since then I'm not sure he's really done anything to get him into the 1st grade team.
