Krisnan Inu denies Warriors link

By AARON LAWTON - Sunday News (New Zealand)

Talented Eels utility back Krisnan Inu has denied speculation a deal with the Warriors for next year is as good as done.

Across the Tasman, it's been reported that Inu, who comes off contract with Parramatta at the season's end, is a strong possibility of signing with the Warriors.

But yesterday, despite confirming he'd be interested in playing for the Kiwi side next year, Inu said he was yet to make a decision on his future.

"I haven't heard anything yet," Inu told Sunday News.

"No decision's been made on my future.

"I don't know where my situation stands with the Eels at this stage.

"My manager is organising that and if you want to talk about this he's the one to speak to."

His agent, Isaac Moses, couldn't be reached for comment yesterday but Inu, when asked about the prospect of playing for the Warriors next year, said: "It would interest me but it's not something I'm really thinking about right now.".

While it's been widely reported that the Warriors have "expressed an interest" in Inu, Sunday News understands the club has gone further than that and put an offer on the table for the Kiwis international.

The club is still awaiting a decision from Inu and his Eels team-mate Feleti Mateo, who has also been offered a contract for 2011.

Warriors recruitment boss Dean Bell said the club expected to have a definitive answer from both players within the next fortnight.

"There's been no movement at this stage on either Mateo or Inu," he said.

"The only movement I suppose there has been to speak of is that we are getting to the stage now where we are pretty keen to get some answers back. I have to admit that.

"While you don't like to put pressure on players, we've been discussing this for quite a while now and it just jeopardises any other options we may have.

"I'm pretty sure we will get some answers from both players within the next couple of weeks."

Potentially helping the Warriors' recruitment cause is that Parramatta CEO Paul Osborne has reportedly put on hold talks with off-contract players at his club until the Eels turn around their poor start to the season

  • He can go. His defence is rubbish.
  • I think he is a very talented player , but his work ethic is poor
  • I think the eels players talking about contracts is a no go at the moment. In my opinion, he will go, and he will probably flourish in the Warriors environment.
  • mateo will stay inu will go
  • well we know were to attack if he gets a job in the centres.
  • If inu leaves to the Warriors he will carve up just watch.

but im not too fussed if he leaves, IMO he is not worth his cap space.
  • Poor defence, exhilarating attack ... what do we need more?

Although it would be nice to keep him, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes. We already have Reddy and Grothe for that side of the field.
  • If we went on priority and value to the team, I think Mateo should definitely be the one staying. That's not to say Inu isn't valuable, but I think we need Mateo more.
