  • I'm too depressed to even try and think of an answer..... :-(
  • Yep I'm tipping kimmorley for one year as well , although I'd rather orford!! But what then?? We need a long term solution!!
  • seems like we hedged all our efforts on cronk and failed.

We will see what they come back with.
  • If we want to go long-term, then there's two words out there.
    Tom Humble.

We didn't sign him from the QLD Cup for no reason.
He was the best player in his team's GF win a couple of years ago and has all the talent in the world.

Otherwise, another option could be Mullen in 2012.
  • we fucked up! sign kimmorley or orford for a year and see what on the market for 2012! its our only option now.
  • Sigh.....

    Ok, I'm ready to contribute.

I think Ricky above is on to something. Tom Humble has a part to play in the future of this club IMO.

Wouldn't mind this for 2011, now that we have missed out on Cronk

    1. Hayne

    6. Humble
    7. Orford

    9. Mortimer/M.Keating

    14. Mortimer/M.Keating

But I'll probably have 120-odd different opinions by the time the 2011 pre-season rolls around...
  • I wouldn't be too displeased with that at all if it were to materialise EelLectric.
If we weren't too get Orford OR Kimmorley, then I think the option we'd have to go down would be to play Humble at halfback as he is a natural half and has shown what he can do in that position.
That would mean that the key positions would be:

    1. Hayne
    6. Mortimer
    7. Humble
    9. Keating/Robson

Obviously acquiring a new half would change that around, but in light of people's concerns that we are yet to publicly announce the signing of a new half, that would be the option that I would go for.
  • i dont think we should start mimicking NSW origin at the eels.... i think we should stick with robson and mortimer in the halves.. let them gain experience together.. they are both champion players and capable of a lot! we gotta back and boys and stay loyal rather than just replace them.

but if i had to pick i'd pick matty orford!
  • If we do that, I guarantee you we will miss the eight again next year.
  • I recall that Mathew Johns was the one who was employed by Melbourne to turn Cronk from a average half back to a rep player. Maybe Humble ( if he is the best half we half left) could be turned into a decent half by being tutored one on one by a Sterling or Andrew Johns.
