Kick to Lomax worked v chooks ?

Just watching back some of the game from the weekend, 3 of our tries came directly from the kick to Lomax and a few others became contests for the footy. My only real issue with the tactic is the amount of energy Lomax would be using to chase and contest from halfway where most of these bombs went up from. Eels are using it to make what would normally be a regulation kick from half way and easy catch into Lomax flying in and making it a battle. Actually incredible motor and effort wise the work of Lomax to do this over 80 mins

  • I pointed ot at half time the reason lomax hasn't been having the success he could be off the moses bombs is because of the line he is taking.  He has been running to the inside of the blocker then adjusting his line to the outside after passing the blocker, this is costing him a second or two which means he doesn't get the best opportunity to contest the bomb. I pointed out he should be going to the outside of the blocker which would then give him either a straight line to the ball or an angle in towards the ball giving a better opportunity to catch it. Have a look at his successful attempts against the roosters,  I think all but one come from going to the outside of the blocker.

  • No not really we got lucky....I think this is a poor overplayed option ....Coates and Tupou are better at the mo

    • If he created a try once that's probably luck but creating 3 just by contesting and keeping the ball alive is effort and skill. 😂 Coates and Tupou are used differently they just put them up in the goal area leap and score. Lomax is sprinting 50 metres and contesting

  • It's an overworked option that needs to be shelved for a while so that it can take the opposition by surprise again

    • Some variety when closer to the line would be good for sure,

  • You attempting to take the piss on my kick it Lomax, kick it to Lomax blog? How many times has it worked versus how many times it has failed? That speaks alll needed. It has become a monotonous and predictable tactic that decent teams now recognise and defend against. That does not detract from Lomaxes effort in any way. His effort is beyond words. How about using multiple kick tactics to create indecision for the defence?  Sorry, we alll jump and scream when it works, how often has that been since the opposition, now know this is our major kicking tactic?

    • It probably is overused but the other option from halfway is just kicking it to the winger or fullback and just holding back and letting them take it. This play I'm talking about is the bomb from halfway and Lomax sprinting to attack it

    • Agreed work 1 out of 12 times

  • It feels like we've  tried it about 50 times for maybe less than 10 success's .

    • The inside the 20 is a different story, they are overusing that one and teams are ready for it. Need more variety then just a little lob kick to him.

"Dragons also used to do it with Lomax so it's probably something that he has brought across with him. Don't see many players attacking kicks from that distance "
