Keeping the Faith and Player Love

:-) My excitement about our performance last night cannot be measured right now. Last night gave the Eels the opportunity to show us what they can do when it is really on the line. I saw commitment, passion and an effort last night which shows why the Eels are still a force to be reckoned with in 2011 (despite the blatant attempts by that toad Tony Archer to destroy any chance we have of a Finals birth).

I did want to take this chance though to single out a few players for their performances last night.

1. Justin 'We Want More' Poore - As has been well documented, it took him a little while to find his feet at his new club and as a result, he is a name that is thrown around as an under performer. Last night he made over 100 metres, which is pretty impressive considering the minutes he played for. JP is showing why he is so important to our team and why we need him to play well and go forward. :-) We all should roooooaaarrr for Justin Poore.

2. It has been mentioned many times, but again Mr Wright. He is not well loved at Parramatta, simply because it has taken him a little while to find his feet at first grade level. The bottom line is, is that he is a replacement player and as a replacement last night, he did over and above what was required of him.

3. Matt Keating - I really thought he had a solid game last night.

4. Anthony 'Ant's Pants' Mitchell - Well what to say, other than he is the Ant's Pants. He threw a few absolutely beautiful passes and showed some of his speed. I was so excited to see him score that try on debut!

5. Feleti 'Hot' Mateo - I don't want to embellish because it makes me sad that we are losing him. But he was amazing!!

6. Nathan Hindmarsh - Everyone please check his stats last night and you will see who does the work in the background, while players like Jarryd work their magic.

7. Lukey Burt - He is so much more than just a goal kicker and it was wonderful to see him getting back to his best last night.

Special mentions also to KK, Lasalo, Justin Horo and Joel Reddy who all also had amazing games.

Finally, last night showed why we as supporters should ALWAYS keep the faith. The boys need to know that we are behind them, especially this weekend. So everyone keep believing in miracles - one week at a time. The players haven't given up, so we most certainly shouldn't give up on them.

P.S. Stifler - told you to keep the faith! :-)

What an effort by Hindy to stop Thaiday from scoring.
  • Well done Tinkerbell, as I replied to 1eyed blog on I Believe i Believe

cue music:.... aghum (clear throat) "I believe WE can fly....I believe We can touch the sky......spread the Hayne wings and fly".....
  • And to think that you had negative ideas last night Ace!

    Believe from now on!! :-)
  • That's why the Eels were always going to win last night. They have a bad habit of making you believe and believe and believe and then stumbling at the very final hurdle.

Hopefully this year pans out differently! :-)
  • The stats say it all Slip - He made 112 metres from 14 runs and still managed 55 tackles.

    The man is amazing!!!
  • Agree with all!!

It will be a sad day when Hindy retires.
Still though, he has really worked on his attacking game and metreage over the last few years. Great to see!
    Hindy is a legend.
  • Can someone find Hindy some braces to keep his shorts up...
  • I reckon Hindy has to hold the record for most times a butt crack is seen throughout an NRL career, haha.
It was about 6/7 times if not more last night that his shorts were pulled down, haha.

"Imagine how much MON would throw at Luai if he was willing to throw half a mil at Blaise T , the best part of a mil at Galvin and threw 650k plus at Silva .
Luai will be the games first 2 mil a year signing. "
