As I'm sure many on here are aware of I'm a Liverpool supporter and proud of it. I woke to news on Thursday morning that FSG (The owners of Liverpool) had sacked Kenneth Dalglish as manager. Their reason: He hadn't lived to expectations in the Premier League. Dalglish re-joined the club as manager after fielding an SOS call in the middle of the 2010/11 season. In his first full season in charge of the club for nearly 20 years he coach them to a Carling Cup win, the final of the FA Cup and through winning the Carling Cup got them club back into the Europa League. The team finished eighth in the Premier League after an up and down season.
At the moment we'd give anything to be in eighth place. We've won 7 matches in over 30 games and haven't been above 12th in over a year. Dalglish, like Kearney had to deal with a team that hadn't been selected by him when he first arrived. He went out and bought Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. As well as blooding players like Jonjo Shelvey and Raheem Sterling. Liverpool have the older players such as Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher. Players that keep the middle together such as Lucas Leiva (Out for 2011/12 through ACL injury) and Dirk Kuyt. As well as the attacking prowess of Suarez, Craig Bellamy and Stuart Downing. And the super sub in the form of Maxi Rodriguez. My point is that Kearney has been given a hell of a lot of time to have proven himself and is only remaining there because of the money. What made Dalglish's sacking even more remarkable is that he is a Liverpool Legend. Known as King Kenny, he ruled the Kop in Liverpool's glory years in the 70's and 80's. He's the equivalent of Peter Sterling (They played in the same number). Just to prove how much he loves the club, when approached by FSG to pay his contract out he declined it and told them to spend the money on a new player. He said there's no hard feelings and that he would gladly take up the position again if the club needed him. Liverpool is a club with a proud history and hasn't tasted premiership glory in over 20 years. IMO Kearney's next game should be his last. He's been given enough time with a team he chose to turn it around. It's a performance based job and he's not performing. In most other companies he would've been gone ages ago. Get rid of him and replace him with either DA or JT.

SACK KEARNEY
I took the time to read your blog and think you've made some excellent points.
The thing that impresses me with the Dalgleish scenario though, is the way he has publicly come out and taken it on the chin, accepting the sacking as a result of his actions as coach, and also stating that he would gladly take up the position with Liverpool again if asked
yer nice blog supereel, i know jack shit about soccer, but you make some good points there super, SKs gotta go, thats the best point that you made :)
It's the manager's job to get the players up for putting in 100% every week. He's lost the dressing room. The players are not playing for him. We won't win another game until he is gone.
In fact, f*** it, I'm going to contact one of the betting agencies and see what odds they'll offer for Parra not to win another game this season.
Ours is a shattered club and SK is presiding over it's devastated carcass. SK and the Spaghetti Gang ought to be ousted ASAP!
"...I am not a loser..."
Well then you're a mighty fine actor doing his best impersonation of a one!
I am also a Liverpool fan and that doesn't surprise me. EPL teams don't play, they sack under-performing coaches and trade/release under-performing players. I think Super Eel has made some very salient points in this Blog and has targeted a very relevant example of how things are done in other sporting codes in the modern day. IMHO, SK has lost the playing group and has not motivated them or prepared them in a manner befitting an NRL coach. SK must adapt or perish.
