  • PNG 9 is incredible

    • Yeah he was really good, PNG played really well to

    • Yeah he plays for Leigh, Edwin Ipape. He has been seen as a top Hooker in SL for a while yet has never made the jump to NRL. I bet he goes to Perth or PNG (of course) when they come in.

  • He's the type we need a tough rugged defender with the athleticism in attack to worry teams for not much cap guys like him are the key.Urgent Athlete also.

    • If you cast your mind back to the beginning of the season he made a ton of errors, dropped balls, pushed passes, I can remember him walking through the opposition play the ball to concede a penalty. If you read through the comments pertaining to him early in the season plenty were saying he should be dropped or wasn't ready for first grade.
Amazing, we move forward to now and we should be trying to emulate him. Imagine if he was never given that opportunity, a bit of patience and the necessary support.

      • I absolutely wanted him dropped at the start of the season. He looked completely underdone and out of his depth. But credit to him and the coaching staff. He greatly improved as the season went and it's just a shame it was cut short due to that (non-penalised) hip drop tackle. Glad to see him performing so well for Fiji. Will be a damaging player next season.

        • Him and Williams will be our best backrow pairing since Lane & Ice in our GF year.

        • It is a great example of what can be achieved when all facets of the footy program are working together and I'm sure that was the plan for him.

I really like Coryn's take on recruitment and retention, in the early stages the focus needs to be largely on physical attributes (primarily explosive speed). All the other stuff can be improved upon if you have that foundation right to begin with.

Also you want players who have experienced a bit in life that hasn't all been positive (some scars) because that's how you build bonds and resilience. I don't want the perfect player because the journey ain't perfect and oftentimes they don't know how to deal with set backs.

  • Penisini called up for Tonga

  • Not to be a negative Nellie but he was very average in the first half. Little involvement both sides of the ball and a knock on. In saying that he will be great for us next year and will be a walk up starter.
