Just here lamenting the quality of NRL Journalism

So unfortunately Fox Sports, The Daily telegraph are 2 media outlets that cannot be taken too seriously! Now that comment in itself is no revelation, back in the day we had real footy journalists like Ian Heads amongst others that provided detail analysis, balanced views and non biased opinions.

The same  cannot be said these days, conflict of interest grips this great game,  there sre agenda all over the place.

Hoops aka conehead delivers on master piece on  NRL 360 last week , I'm mean its comparable a 4 corner's investigation the detail and quality is that thorough... So, the question is who had the last laugh? Jason Ryles or the conehead? You decide.

Go the mighty Eels!!

  • Well it was a double whammy with not only Ryles and the team winning, but beating Gutho also. The talk that we should have kept him is muted, we won without him against him. He led his team to sacrifice a 12 point lead. Did similar against Souths in Round 2 at home.

Thats the leadership we are lacking apparently. I have nothing against Gutho, even that push and shove he gave to Russell was purely to rattle the team, just want the media and many others to eat their words about the whole Gutho leaving thing.

    • Exactly LB,  that's what we had under Guthersons leadership. Out one week and beating the likes of Melbourne , and then not being able to grind out a win over the anus teams of the competition the next. He was so carried away with his couple of try's and his " up yours Parra " fairytale , he forgot to rally the troops to hold onto their massive lead.
You couldn't have scripted the weekends game any better. It was a textbook Gutho team scenario , we just happpened to be on the right side of it this time.

    • To be fair to Gutho, he scored 2 and had 1 assist. He had a great game just didn't get much help from the rest of his team.

But we definitely got the biscuits on that win. Glad to see Iongi make that try saver on Gutho too. A sweet bit of vindication right there.

      • Individually can't ask for much more. It's his leadership that's rubbish. They had a lead that should've gotten them home and he pushed two passes late in the game that didn't need to be thrown and let us back into the game. He didn't know when to back off the glory pedal, and apply the smart footy pedal.

  • The last true rugby league journalist was Peter Frilingos. He passed 21 years ago.

Ever since then its been hacks who will slowly be replaced by AI.

    • Nice one Parra Dice

      Peter Frilingos deserves legend status

    • I always thought Roy Masters was pretty fair. Can't remember him writing too many hack job articles. Certainly none of this Woman's day throw away rubbish we see today. The other night the comentators both FOX and everywhere else we pulling their cocks over the great Fatrell pass to win the game  , and today the same outlets fishing for clicks saying the referees should be toasted for missing the blatant forward pass.

  • LB could not have put it any better the Quicker the Gutho thing dies a natural death the better . Also sitting there Saturday and listening to to the southern end where most of the Dragon supporters where With the relentless Booing of Lomax every time he touched the  ball gave me a dry horn . (Exuse the French) and the the wave of great joy when he nailed the the one pointer to win filled us long suffering true eels fans with great joy

  • Yep, you've gotta hate the old LNP protection press.

  • The journos relise that the best NRL news comes from social media. AI does a better job at rounding up some NRL news content than journalists do. All they do is court controversy to get clicks, which brings in the advertising dollars. It's a sad state of affairs. Parra are the usual focus because we simply generate more clicks than any other team.
