Judiciary From Eels vs Roosters

Parramatta five-eighth Dylan Brown is facing at least three weeks on the sidelines while centre Marata Niukore is facing a two-match ban after both were charged by the match review committee following Friday night's win over the Roosters.

Brown was hit with a grade three dangerous contact charge after sliding his knees into Roosters five-eighth Drew Hutchison, who was hospitalised with suspected fractured ribs and punctured lung.

Brown will miss three matches with an early guilty plea and risks a four-match suspension if he challenges the charge at the NRL judiciary.

Niukore will receive a two-match ban if he pleads guilty to a grade two careless high tackle on James Tedesco, and risks a three-match penalty if he loses at the judiciary.

Meanwhile Roosters prop Siosiua Taukeiaho is facing a $750 fine for a grade one careless high tackle on Parramatta's Keegan Hipgrave, with a discount for a seven-year incident-free record,

  • How the fuck was Siosiua Taukeiaho not charged for his tackle on Fergo. It was so careless. He picked Fergo's leg up and threw him head first into the group. Absolutely BS.

  • Brown should not challenge his ban. 3 weeks is fair. Niukore could possibly ask for a downgrade given he was already in a position to tackle. Niukore's arm was rapping around. However, because Tedesco fell, Niukore hit him in the head.

    • What a load of crap it was totally accidental. Foul play Needs to be intentional is clearly wasn't it was an accident.

      • Agreed

Niukore was a total accident. The fact Paulo had him made Tedesco fall. He was basically on his knees when he fell into Niukore. How the fuck that is punishable is a joke.

        • That fucking happened against the dragons too... He always falls into tackles..

          • Yep. Tedesco's head was 3 feet from the ground when the Dragon's winger hit him.

            • I found that call very annoying. Teddy always falls over. Some onus needs to be put on the ball carrier as well if they want to stamp out head knocks.

      • If your talking about D Brown. I 100% agree it was accidental. But it is simple. You can't slide in with your knees.

I think Niukore got suspended because the NRL is really trying to make a statement about head high tackles due to concussion. Tedesco always falls over and in this case Paulo made Tedesco fall and Niukore couldn't do anything as he was already in the action of making a tackle.

        • Totally agree, I was expecting 4 weeks.  Accidental but none the less very careless.
