Jonah Pezet

Do we play him at 14 or do we keep him 18th or 19th man.

  • We've made our bed on this one now with the accidental bumping into Volkmans performances of late I feel JR has zero choice but to continue with the mentioned zero choice. If he can leave DB on the bench to give opportunities to the next guy he certainly can do the same with Pezet.

I mean I'd look to horse trade him for another player that would be ideal but will it happen god knows do we have a player in mind can they execute it if we do more questions than answers.

    • With their injury issues, they are maybe not in a great position to do swaps, but they have always managed to have fast and athletic backs, maybe running around in one of their many feeder sides! They certainly don't breed them that way at Parra.

  • He should stay in reserves at least until after the bye and hopefully for the rest of the dead season.

Will find out at 1600 on Tuesday if JR is really all in on the 'future is now' mantra.

  • The question is what has he actually done for the team since his participation? I think he scored 1 try but how much has his poor defence let in? I'd probably play him at 14 and see how he goes and if no good put him 18th or 19th and if again no good either try get to Broncos this year or reserve grade

    • Why would JR put Pezet at 14? We assume you mean if Smith is not available and Pezet at 14 is there to . . . well he would not play hooker, surely? Defesnive liability in the middle. And can only cover 6 or 7, which is kind of what 18-19 is now for?

      • You know Daz how you always have one kid in the class who is a total Dope and makes all the stupid comments.......Meet Mallee57..... they don't come any dumber.

PS he is on this site representing another club, have a look at his history......

  • offer him the bulldogs as a 7 and we'll take galvin as a 6.

However being serious for a moment, let's just say we are in the hunt for a top 8 spot in about 6 or so weeks. having a genuine half available even as a backup on the extended bench is essential. When all hands are back on deck, i feel a Pezet may become a requirement if we are anywhere near that top 8.

Lets not forget if Ryles fails to play finals this year, most of us are peeved, if he does make the finals, we'll ! Ryles gets a lot of breathing space next year to continue his long rebuild phase. There will be a lot on Ryles mind that's for sure.

I can't believe that after the start from absolute hell this year, we are only 2 wins out of the top 8. Go figure.

    • Blue Eel, I did the unicorn, but not sure finals are within this team's grasp. Too many things needed to go right and nothing has went right all year! But I interpret you that JR might put Pezet at 18-19 as cover for a half, and I agree there

      • All hands won't be on Deck Bluey, love your Unicornman Vision but we have Hopgood, Simmonsson and Doory out for the season....throw in a couple of other long termers, don't forget we have got to get Moses through an origin series (goodluck on that one) LOL

    • Ryles can be blamed for many things, including purchasing Pezet for one season, but the injury count he can't control that. If the Eels can just be there abouts to making the finals he has done an amazing job. If the Eels finish this season like they did last season, it's promising for me.

Obviously I want them to play finals but the injury count has been next level and Ryles can't control that, no matter how much people think he can.

I am in aggreeance though, the Pezet signing is a bit of a head scratcher. I am guessing he thought Pezet was better than we all think of him due to Ryles time at the Storm and coaching him in their junior ranks. It's hard to know if a talented junior will make it in the senior leagues but you will never know until you give them a go. You also have to be willing to give them a number of games, not just one or two and then saying they're no good.

Maybe Ryles got the Pezet one wrong, or maybe the Bronco's will reap the longterm rewards?
