I have been watching closely Folau's move into the forwards with him playing on the second for a little while now. I was interested to see if he would be lazy and or go missing in the forwards as he would drift out of the game when playing in the centres.
He has the physical attributes to make the change, but did he want the extra workload and could he handle the endurance of playing in the forwards.
Well, I can confidently say he has successfully made the switch and after watching him today against Newcastle he would be ready to play in the backrow next week in the NRL.
We don't need to look very far to find a young NRL forward because Folau is it. In my opinion Folau is a better backrower right now then Niukore, Gower and proberly Terepo and I am a big fan of Terepo.
With an off season approaching I would be getting Folau to do my running to improve on his endurance because next year he will leap frog some of our NRL forwards.
Evans, Meehan and Folau in 2018 will give us the size we are missing.

With Folau, he seems to be taking his career forward, more fitness and he could be Ok an animal, up to him..
Yes, Meehan's extra weight has been discussed a lot by Snake, myself and others for the past 6 or so weeks (discussed a lot). He looks like he is around 130kg, but when he was a star u20 player he was 115kg. If he is interested he will lose those extra kgs in the off season.
Vave was not a bad signing as he was only ever a fringe 1st grader and was signed on for modest money. He went from a fringe first grader to our starting frontrower. Yes, he does struggle with weight and some players do.
Folau is ready right now and I would promote Folau next game to replace Ma'u who is suspended. Folau could be an X player for us off the bench in September. He just needs some game time in the NRL to get used to the extra speed in his new position. What I really like about Folau playing in the forwards is that he hits like Ma'u, but with an extra 10kg of weight.
I know this is a big call but I think Folau will be a better NRL backrower then Moeroa. The only difference is Moeroa has better endurance, but Folau is catching up in this regard.
I, Phil and others have been wanting Folau to move to the forwards for the past couple of seasons. Folau is an average NRL back but I think he can become a very good NRL forward. He has legs like tree trunks and he would be one of the hardest guys in the club to tackle front on one on one. Not many opposition forwards run directly at him as he is a powerful defender.
If we don't resign him now he will be snapped up by other NRL teams looking for a young backrower. Forget about Niukore, Morris and Stone as Folau is the guy we need to sign long term.
Unless we sign Hayne or another outside quality back Taka will have to remain in the centres. It would be a big loss to replace both our left centre and left winger at the same time. But I do agree he is past his prime at centre, unless he loses around 4-5kgs.
