Joash

I have noticed, amongst all this Pezhed skullfuckery, a lot of love for Joash. Why is that?. He hasn't done much, hasn't even shown that much...but a lot of us, me included, are quite fond of him and some of us are really backing him in. We ALL hated him after his first couple of games, but here we are. Bulldog reject, but here we are

Why do we like him?

  • For me, he brings a visible energy without being frenetic and seems to be a learner...a listener. We need that energy he brings, so I hope he can drag his 5/8 play up to standard

    • That's it for me, his energy and passion. He's reminds me of Luai in that regard (not that I'm particularly fond of Luai, but his energy is unquestionable). His defence was a lot better than I expected also, plenty of upside development wise, and he seemed to be "all in"

    • Yep agree, the energy & enthusiasm Randy, it looks infectious. JAC is another.

Players who celebrate every small win on the field, you can see it means something to them, that they are invested, as we are.

And just opinion, but really rate Joash at fullback. Was stoked when we signed him. When Iongi went down he did nothing but prove that he is more than a backup - that game against Brisbane was ultra impressive.

And other than that, he's very, very amusing in try scoring situations. At times, he is completely at odds with what other players are doing, and its priceless.

      We need more Joash's.

  • A bit of devils Advocate blogging Randy....fairplay.....you are right he has not done much, has made big blunders in matches....maybe its his energy and authenticity for the Jersey...as Parra fans often we dont ask for much except that .....

how can we 40 years and counting ...he is busting his guts...obviously he doesnt have the talent of Iongi but hes a trier.....interesting we dont have the same love for Russell he is a trier with a low talent celling ....interesting ...maybe he reeks of Bush Coach ...lol hard to say.......

    • Russell love has been on the up since Ryles....We want to love hm, we really do, and he is finally giving us a chance to do it.

  • Cause he's likeable as a person and character. I have said he is good but nothing great at the moment but bloke is a cheerleader in the squad. At times you need that for morale.

    • He's also got heaps of skill, and plenty of time on his side to develop. Joash is going nowhere

  • Because he wants to be here.

  • I think its cause he was eels fan growing up he plays with alot of heart.

Hes not a 1st grade 5/8 hes a back up at best I think he has the potential to have a Sean Russell type career playing a bit part covering positions

Or he kicks on and becomes a star

  • Can't speak for others, but I like Papali'i for his passion, energy, enthusiasm, talent, ability to put his body on the line,  tackle, and he's got Parra in his blood. Hope he has a long future in the club.
