The Parramatta Eels are excited to announce that Jaydn Su'A has agreed to join the club on a three-year contract commencing in the 2027 season and running through to the end of 2029.
A powerful and hard-running backrower, Su’A brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Eels’ forward pack. Since making his NRL debut in 2016, he has gone on to play 160 first-grade matches, establishing himself as one of the competition’s most consistent and physical edge forwards.
Parramatta Eels GM of Football Mark O'Neill welcomed the signing, highlighting Su’A’s impact on and off the field.
"Jaydn has a strong physical presence, he is a competitor who leads through his actions. He can play big minutes, defend consistently, and will be great for our squad."
“He’s built a reputation on toughness and effort, and we believe his experience at both NRL and representative level will add value to our group as we continue to build for the future.”
In addition to his club career, Su’A has performed on the representative stage, earning selection for the Queensland Maroons in State of Origin and representing Samoa internationally.

Oh no far from it NOS. I like the signing. Just don't want it where they only got him to get Keaon for example as opposed to to getting him at they feel he can improve us.
But if we get a top middle and dare i say LPT, Su'A becomes a luxary signing in that don't really need him but we will take him anyway.

Nos are u happy to pay the best part of 2 mil for 2 back rowers/ props?
I don't think Keaon is worth the $$ he's being offered on face value, but, the fact we are in desperate need of his position / style of player / replacement for Paulo dictates his price for the Eels - just my opinion though.
Watching our starts / middle being dominated across the first 6 rounds only strengthens that thought - whether that's Kaeon or someone else who can be that alpha role, doens't phase me.
Issue is, the market is so bare in a competition starving for middles. Making their price overvalued. If there is plenty of something you don't pay as much.
Yep exactly, supply & demand - plus our desperate need for the position.

I think perception of our middles is clouded by our defensive weaknesses on the edges and 5/8
Our best juniors are heading for the middle with the exception of Petrus, combine him with Sua and we have lateral cover there. Get Burton into 5/8 and whole defensive issues go away. I am hoping when ilongi comes back that Joash fills 5/8 and in the long term becomes one of the 6 on the bench. We then need a centre to replace Russell who is proving irreplaceable at the moment.
Would we match 650 to match the Perth offer, face value no but we could end up paying 700 a centre to replace him......make an offer within 50/100 for Russell and see if we can offer Perth some alternative.
Fair enough Pops, and you might be 100% correct, but I'm kinda seeing it as the opposite.
Imo, our middle is causing issues defensively on our edges, and our edges are already poor defensively from weak defensive links - our left has been hugely impacted by DB vacating, and our right having issues with Kelma / Moses.
Throw in our lack of metres & field position, then being dominated weekly in ruck speed, seems to be impacting line speed & first contact = fatigue.
Just opinion but I'm seeing a lot snowball from our middle, and we are on the back foot every week from there.
100% agree on Joash to 5/8th, our defence was proven far stronger with that set up.
All for our junior middles, but they're years away Pops, they'll be bled slowly - only Big Sam is anywhere near a starter, and that looks more 2027/2028?
I know you're not a big fan of Keaon and I get the hesitation, but imo we need someone, if not him, someone else. We cannot go into 2027 with this middle rotation - it's been a disaster.
We also have a desperate need for a metre eating winger, Lomax a huge loss (as is Simo), and JAC / Ionghi aren't huge metre guys, then obviously a centre to replace Russell as you mentioned (another big loss now).
If there is a silver lining to this injury crisis, it might be recruitment - let's hope Su'a is phase 1.
"Yeah agreed Riccio is silly, that's deadset rewriting history. Ideally Lomax wasn't a dolt and doesn't chase a mirage in the Middle East, but he was never known for his brains.
The fallout that followed was 100% a great showing by Parra every step…"

I hope it was the only reason for going for Keaon. I doubt it but if by some miracle we get Keaon, Su'A becomes a luxary.
Not a fan of Su'a, LB?

Hey Darren, do you mean for Su'a & Koloamantangi?
What are we paying Su'a per year?

Would you target a different prop?

Just my view Pops, may be very wrong.
Now two new centres in Tago and Xerri. Trade Penesini and Kelly if we have to.
Push for Loko Tonga
Try and give Twidle or Papalii a go in 5/8
