Just watching a replay of the Manly game. A couple of incidents got me a little concerned that Hayne's relationship with the refs is fast spiralling downwards beyond redemption.
I don't need to tell you that we are being caned by the refs this year. We've had a few 50/50's go for us, but so many more go against us. This continued against Manly, and you could see a few veins popping around Hayne's forehead. At one stage, he sarcastically applauded the ref after Manly got a penalty. This is never going to get you onside with the refs.
Now, I'm not blaming Jarryd for getting so frustrated. Personally, I'd be struggling to keep my cool, and there have been times Hayne's done good.
BUT, it's time for BA to step in and tell Jarryd there is another level to being a good captain. Jarryd has to take a step back and try to connect more with the refs, no matter how bad we're copping it.
As much as I hate Jamie Lyon, and it pains me to be saying this, but Jarryd could have learnt a bit from him. I know Manly were getting the rub of the green, but there were a few discussions Judas had with the ref, where Judas put his (biased) opinion to the ref, the ref explained his decision, he listened, nodded his head, took the call and carried on. He didn't try to argue and raise other incidents in the game as so many other captains do. THIS is how you get respect from the refs.
PS Jamie Lyon takes it up the A!@#.

Jarryd was dismissed by the refs basically before he said anything, noticed snake stewart yelling at ref same time Lyon was talking to refs but this was ignored. Different attitude for Manly & Parra from refs. Noticed that Mannah started talking to refs later on in game & maybe that should remain when he is on field. Thought players were only supposed to talk to refs only during certain times but this seems to have been ignored by all parties.
Yeh I cant believe the way Stewart screamed at the ref and nothing of it yet Hayne who is actually a captain is basically told don't talk to me or il penalise you
