          • Nup reckon it makes it easier for him with Mary's link. He'll go.

the guy will make easily $2M pa including mega TPAs. Any dad would be happy to ok that.

    • Exactly though PNG will attract many players from now into future unless nrl fixes the amount accordingly per tax free bucks. ! Isnt the supposed idea of the salary cap to help even things up? How is this fair then? Ridiculous stuff. Plus a whole country offering TPAs as has been outlined re offered to Luai.

It's crucial we lock up our junior keepers ...yesterday.

      • NRL won't fix it as they want PNG to be successful as it means the Australian government will continue to put money towards it meaning NRL get bucket loads from this franchise.

        • 600 million of Australian Tax Payer money which will go to the NRL to use as they please. Some of this will go into PNG. Some of it will be used to buy more assets for the NRL. At the end of the day, this team will be successful based on the fact they will always have nearly double the money to spend on players under their cap. Even if its for only 2-3 years, you will see alot of players in their prime go on their own for a short contract to gain what they can in 6 years for 3 years, possibly more, as most players start low and end low, most of their income is made in the middle of their career. This will be impossible for established clubs to compete with the money on offer. Power houses like Roosters, Penrith, Broncos will have the constant ability to fight for a premiership, this will maintain their attraction. Lower tier clubs like Dragons, Titans, Tigers will struggle to sign anyone unless they offer double the players worth to get close to PNG offers. Im worried the Bears will fail before they even begin. You have PNG in 2028 competing for a premiership and Bears will be competing for the spoon...

          • Only thing is to get tax free yoh have to be living there apparently. So players can't keep family in Australia and earn a quick paycheck. Not sure how many players will want to uproute completely and if they do, for how long?

            • They are being very, very generous with the tax arrangements. By the letter of the law you have to live there - but it's not hard to set up creative accounting arrangements to get around that (if they haven't already been exempted as part of the arrangement).

There has been direct intervention to ensure this deal works well for PNG. Not just the NRL but the Federal Government of Australia need this team to be successful so we have a bargaining chip with PNG. Diplomacy at it's finest.

Perth will be a slow burn, they'll probably suck for a while. I reckon PNG will be able to pull together a very decent roster before their first season.

          • assume player managers commission is tax free too? No doubt they'll be an extra incentive for them to direct their traffic that way?

            • I'm sure they'll do as many dodgy things as they can to make this possible, but it'll be much harder for player managers to get in on this given they all run businesses in Australia.

  • Give PNG Ryan Matterson's contact details...

    • He is not our problem next year. Don't think even a RM would touch him
