Jack de Belin to join Eels in 2026

Summary:

Jack de Belin, the Dragons' longest-serving current player, is set to leave the club at the end of the 2025 season to join the Parramatta Eels. The 34-year-old has agreed to a deal for 2026, with Parramatta holding an option for 2027. The contract is currently in the NRL’s 10-day cooling-off period.

De Belin, who has played 242 games, was close to becoming the most-capped Dragon in history. Despite being in talks for another contract extension, he will now reunite with former teammate Zac Lomax at the Eels. A mid-season switch before June 30 is unlikely due to the Dragons’ lack of forward depth.

A consistent performer, De Belin played every game last season and has not missed one this year. He is the last Dragons player remaining from the Wayne Bennett era.

His departure comes amid a broader roster overhaul at the Dragons. Tyrell Sloan, Blake Lawrie, and Mikaele Ravalawa may also leave, while several forwards, including David Klemmer and Michael Molo, are off-contract.

  • Playing very well ATM you need some experience and hard heads good signing

  • If he doesn't work out he'll be Jack De bellend  around here.

    • Why won't it work all of a sudden?

  • I hope he truly isn't " rapey" and keeps on the straight and narrow

    • Carlo, his trial was one of the all time great stitch ups, false police reports, video of the victim returning to the club laughing her head off, after the so called rape.

If DeBellen wasn't a footballer it would not have made the courts.....a disgrace of the NSW Justice System.

      • Pops, I have no idea what happened in the debelin case, however just to keep things in perspective, The lady in question did walk to a nightclub with De belin and the other bloke, she further stated it was an attempt to remain safe untill she could escape them. In the line waiting to get into the nightclub the lady managed to take off when Debelin stood for fan  photographs. She never went into the nightclub.

He was found not guilty and happy to move on!.

As an Eel now it strikes me as a sigining out of desperation. At 35 he will be one of if not the oldest forwards in the NRL. Once again a signing that no other club was interested in making. If he has been bought for depth and as a backup option, i guess i can see that, having lost Lane, Cartwright and attempts to move Matterson on.

Who knows maybe he finds his youth having 3 years out nd surprises us with man of the match honours each week. I do hope the club have an idea on which forwards they feel can dominate for us next season. We are looking very very thin still.

        • Bluey, she was laughing on the video when on that line, police were taken off the case for introduction of false evidence.

She had no physical injuries.......innocent untill proven guilty, he lost 2 years of his life and god knows the effect it had on his family.....huge error in judgement of course for going there in the first place. His wife was very pregnant at the time. All these young footballers need to understand taking a piss around the corner, they will end up in someones photo collection.

Strange I don't see it that way "desperation" its one year and gives us that depth that we lack. See my other comments about the coincidence of my conversation with Wongy.

PS Big rumour doing the rounds that Dyllan Brown is trying to get out of his contract.

          • I wonder if Dylan has " never spoken to Gus ' also ?

DylBoobs is a bigger fuckstick than I gave him credit for if he's actually trying to get out of that contract. Because I'd bet my left and right nut that no other club would be offering him anywhere remotely in that vicinity after seeing his form this season. I fuckimg hope we haven't been stoopid enough to offer him his old deal back.

            • hahahaha

          • I've heard that about Dylan as well. Newcastle would be mad to keep him under those circumstances if true.
