So begins a Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. For all of us, it is surely, the worst of times.
Earlier in the year, I warned twice that Parramatta faced danger if success did not come soon. Thirty odd hearts of failure would tempt the NRL to move against us. A reduction of Sydney based teams has long been an agenda, albeit a sleeping threat. We could be forced into amalgamation with another failing club--West Tigers e.g. . Or even with a 'successful' club like Canterbury! We could be privatised. We could be transfered over to Perth. The advent of the current problems add to that possibility. It is ironic that the scumbag leakers achieve their aim only to bring about the demise of the Eels by one or other of the above possibilities.
The media claim that some administrators of the board will be forced to stand down or lose more points and/or substantial financial penalties.
If those administrators have been voted on to the board by members of the club, surely only club members have the mandate to remove those administrators providing they have done nothing illegal? The threat by the NRL seems to be a form of blackmail particularly to administrators who are guilty of nothing. That could be tested in law in the civil courts.
If fans stay unlighted and strong, we may yet come out this worst of times saying, as Dickens chief character says, "It is a far, far better thing I do than I have ever done."

You stupid monkey!
Lol : )
Agree with your sentiments Robert but not your content. Remember they tried to boot Souths out of the comp but fan pressure forced them to back down. The same would happen here, we are too big to move and too successful monetarily to force amalgamation. Also the NRL cannot put a representative on the board without board or member approval (think needs constitutional change to put a board appointed person on the board). The NRL could force personal off the board threatening punitive action such as large monetary penalties or points loss unless they stood down which would force new elections.
