Here's an article I posted years ago slip.
    I still have the original.

Police alledged Grothe gave Mares the keys.
    The Famous Incident
Molotov cocktails were the beverage of choice, back in the 80's
    • Wow Chief, nice newspaper clipping. I remember when that happened.
    • Grothe should have just done the job himself.Sounds like Mares was the worlds dummest criminal.
  • I was at Campbelltown court house regarding another matter when i overheard a conversation between the parties.
I beleive that mares went back to have a second go at the car and the police had the vehicle under surveillance.
I also remember one night when i was driving foe cumbeand taxi and i had to go to 17 soŕrel st at parramatta. I went inside to get the passenger and who was also inside..mr mares
    • In the 80's you had to be a Catholic to play for Canterbury..now you need to be a convicted fellon to play for Parra...lol
  • Funny stuff i never remember they had two goes at it.lol

  • Young and dumb
  • Nice find slip, I couldn't remember if the car was a wagon or sedan.
I don't know why they were arrested, burning a Ford is not crime.
  • Great find!

I also love how there's a story about Dr Geoffrey Edelsten at the top of the page. And to think nearly 30 years later that freak is still alive and making the media!!

    • I was a patient of the good doctor in his very early years. The Moorebank clinic had a grand piano in it . At the time his car was a big American job with a mobile phone in it. In those days there were no mobile phone networks.
Of course he has done his pennance and he is involved with a online pharmacy in America
