The Knights have a better chance of winning the comp
The 5 need to beg for leniency and fall on their vibrators.
I'm hearing there's even worse to come out.
Mate, this is a really sensible option that many people would agree with. But the board decided to take a combative approach since day one. The NRL even said that if we'd worked with them the punishment would be less severe.
It doesn't appear that your appraoch will happen. Far from falling on their swords the five are still in court with the NRL arguing procedural fairness. You'l notice that NOT ONCE have the five said they didn't do it. It's all technicalities and drumming up arguments that the NRL is corrupt, and that player managers are also to blame etc. NOT ONCE has the club said it didn't happen.
It makes my blood boil that the ParraFirst ticket isn't putting the Eels first - I find that so disrespectful to the players and coaching staff (not to mention us members and fans). They totally stuffed a season that had the best start in years!
I think it's another utter strategic failure that has completely underestimated the severity of this matter. In any negotiating situation once you wake up and realise that your position is untenable, you need to save face and bargain for the best possible outcome.
I hope that Kurupt is wrong and that there isn't anything further. That'd do me.
The most embarrassing thing is that the court has no ability to hear the guts of the issue - if the five win on procedural fairness it will not help the Eels and our 12 points.
Yes, but the allegation we're dealing with is that the five discovered this and did nothing to fix it.
This year is a write off and there is no point hoping for a miracle outcome. My concern is that the 5 will not fall on their collective sword and we will be penalised with the loss of cap again next year.
It was reported in the press that according to Geoff Gerrard the board had decided whilst in Darwin that they would self report on the salary cap issues. They then jumped on the plane with all of them sharing that view. By the time that the plane landed in Sydney they had changed their mind and decided not to self report.
If we suffer a loss of points again in 2017 we will have been treated harsher than the Storm
There has been no mention lately of the $140,000 that Kieran Foran believes he is owed from The Sea Eagles. If you recall it was reported that he would take legal action to recover it. Manly claim no knowledge of the alleged claim or garrantee.
I assume that the NRL will be hot on the trail chasing this one down.
Poppa I am an optimist and I go to every home game and some of the away games. Trouble is I am probably as old as you, maybe not, life has taught me to be a realist. I would love to think that there is still a chance but I some how can't see it. Happy to be proven wrong.
The point I am trying to make is that we go into 2017 with a clean sheet.
Absolutely the problems could have been fixed Allen, so why didn't the five tell the NRL about them and get them fixed? It beggars belief really.
