When Chris Sandow had a gambling problem we gave him time off and looked after him to help him with his problem. What did he end up doing? He shat upon us and I think we still paid some of his money so he could go to England where he eventually shat upon them.
We let Jarryd break his 2015 contract to fulfill his gridiron dream. Of course he was always coming back to the EELS wash't he? He also shat upon us.
Then we give Semi time off for alleged personal issues in Fiji and he has subsequently shat upon us. The irony of this is if he is found guilty or deliberately pleads guilty of domestic violence there is every chance Greenturd will suspend him and thus allow him an early release to Rugby Union.
Throw in what we paid Keiran Foran for an early release has Parramatta become a charity for league players? Other than Money Bill Williams at the Dogs I can't think of another club that has become such a soft touch for footballers.
Is there a lesson to be learnt here?

Darius Boyd shat all the Knights in a big way and they paid him out for some reason.
So far I'm kinda underwhelmed by Bernie Gurr . Still no sponsor and Semi has been standing over the club for 12 months and we are still falling over ourselves . Understanding there's process's he has to follow with a contracted player , I was kinda hoping for more of a hard nut . The way Semis floated in and out , the media releases stating his commitment and all the driving offences , assault and not turning up for court I thought old Burn may have told him to pisss off by now . Then seeing the garbage he's accepted from our Marketing team on the 2017 logo and jersey* , I guess it seems like he's just another stooge filling a shirt .
* if that atrocity we saw yesterday is our 2017 jersey .
Totally agree and although i wanted Bernie to get the gig and support his appointment, im not falling over myself for him just yet like im seeing from a lot of eels fans, all ive heard from Bernie so far is generic stuff you or i could have put together, his statement about a month ago about Semi of which i had a go at him at the time and copped a bit for it, reeked of bending over for Semi with all types of nonsense of how happy Semi was and that semis manager had not indicated otherwise, everybody on this site has known for a year how unhappy semi has been and known how he wanted out, i found Bernies comments were slightly playing the supporters as fools, its better to say nothing than to trot out generic BS imo.
I would have called it more of the to and fro of negotiating a contract. Play nice to start and then get tougher as the conversations play out esp if they arent going the way you want.
Past Admins have been a soft touch by blinking first and paying players overs, but if you look at whats happened with Peats, Hoppa, Hayne, Mogs, Toutai etc there is more a determination to keep contracts within a sensible realm, so we can afford a 'complete' team.
Soft Touch? Nah
Dunno , maybe I'm being a bit tough since the seasons yet to start , but old Bern so far hasn't really shown me a single glimpse of being better than anyone else we've had at this stage of his tenure .
I am not having a shot at the current CEO. I am generalising about our club and its history of being dudded by players.
Completely different to the manner in which JH left, certainly not ideal in losing the best winger in the game, now it's up to the coaching staff to ensure he plays to his ability. Maloney and others have played well even though they were moving on, don't understand the petulant statements that Semi should be shoved aside.
He has done nothing more than tell the club he has signed elsewhere, no matter what has gone on previously regards the way in which he was treated is irrelevant. We need to support him and the club while he is wearing blue and gold and understand sport is now a business, even in junior league good players change clubs, we need to not be so precious and move on.
