The other problem I have (and probably the more important one) is this:
IMO, Parramatta's problems mostly stem from not having a half who can legitimately lead us around the park. We can't control the play of a game. Without a leader at number 7 we play dumb football. We drop the ball in our own half gifting good field position to the opposition, we kick the ball straight to the opposing fullback again giving away field position. We are always on the back foot which puts preassure on the entire team but particularly the forwards who spend all their time hitting the ball up from their own 10 or making tackles in our redzone. Then when we do get a chance down the other end, everyone is too tired to do anything.
So, if halves and controlling a game is our problem, how is having Kearney as a coach going to help Parramatta? What does he know about playing halfback? How can he teach a kid like Mortimer, Murray or Humble?
I'm no fan of Ricky Stewart but I have just about talked myself into wanting him over Kearney.

Even though i wasn't supportive of him being coach in the first place.
Stuart's coaching record has been pretty good with the Roosters.
The sharks were the ones playing, not the coach.
The sharks have played poorly in the last 2 seasons.
Stuart was just coaching them.
We can compare Anderson to stuart, for this year when the eels finished 12.
But who's fault is it?
It's the players in my view.
They are the ones playing and doing the hard stuff.
The Coach is not involved with the final scores.
If Ricky was to be our new coach, he'd bring good experience and maybe even develop our halves combination, to face any opposition.
Whoever becomes coach of the EELS for 2011 and future years, good luck to them and hope they can create a better premiership winning side.
Until I was informed at how poorly coach daniel anderson was developing our halves combinations to the point of almost laughable disregard for how he was setting up our playing structure for Daniel Mortimer, Kris Keating and Jeff Rosbon.
Watching parramatta over the last 2 years is all the proof you need. DA was lucky Haynesy went nuts to save him from getting the chop much much earlier.
Stephen Kearney may not be a Half Back but he is a player and has been coaching guys like Benji Marshall, Cooper Cronk, Cameron Smith ect.. whilst also learning from them as well,And had massive raps from all the players he has been in charge of since becoming NZ and MElbourne assistant coach. Something ANDO has been attracting the opposite reaction of.
As far as Ricky Stuart goes well im sure he would give it a good go at parra aswell but Kearney is professional, already has the seal of approval from a players point of view, is incredibly strict with his current teams and will be our coach so no point distressing over it. The fact that we now have the attention of someone like Jonathan Thurston interested in us now that ANDO is gone speaks volumes aswell.
Given also the fact that Kearney has ruled out wanting old and mediocre halves options like gower and orford and would prefer to develop the talent that is already at parra and go after JT with the parramatta board tells me that he is willing to put in and look to build a new culture at parra with our spine as a major focus.
I think we will see a parramatta with a gameplan and alot more structure next year. Players knowing there roles and providing a better platform so our halves can step up. Theres alot of talent in our ranks they just need the guidence. Stephen Kearney is best suited. He has been coaching some of the best playmakers in our game for a while now dnt forget.
