Is it time to start Vave???

With our forwards getting dominated AGAIN yesterday, is it time to start Vave?

Maybe think about bringing someone up from NSW Cup - Kelepi (not sure how his form is)?

  • Eels definitely need some size and speed not just in the forwards but in the backs as well.
  • Would have liked to see Terepo transition to starter this season, but not to be with that pec injury.

The fact is we are short in the prop department, and will have to make do this season.

That combined with an inexperienced bench hooker playing 80 minutes will make every week tough for our forward pack.

  • Not till his lost weight, not thanks fit enough
  • Browny needs some help from somewhere, matagi had a fantastic start to season but seems to be going backwards a bit! He is still doing good numbers but the first month he had that intimidation factor that seems to of gone.... mannah back to his old tricks yesterday was absolutely terrible! One guy who I think has come on leaps and bounds this year is Tepai, has been playing out of his skin defensively and actually getting a fair bit of metres after contact which he wasn't the best at in seasons past. I think I would rather only one of mannah or Alvaro on the team sheet week in week out both the same high work rate but not much impact (you need those kind of players though) and for me Alvaro being younger needs to be that workhorse player and I think unfortunately for Timmy time to go back to wenty, love the passion the bloke has for the club but just can't cut it consistently to be a starting prop, one good game every 8 just isn't good enough! Prop rotation with what we have should be matagi & Vave starting, Alvaro and Terepo off the bench when all are fit!
    • BA wont punt the captain - whether we like it or not, Timmy is one of our most experienced players. We're lacking some serious leadership, especially in key positions. We missed Beau Scott yesterday as well.

    • I agree with the matagi comment. I've noticed his lack of aggression he showed in the first two rounds.

Hopefully the boys get fired up for next week because I can't see massive changes.
  • I think we're ok in the backs - you've got speed with French and Jennings. Size with Auva'a and Semi (he's pretty quick as well).

they didnt get any quality ball yesterday. Doesn't matter how good you're backs are, if your forwards don't aim up then the backs will struggle.

  • Vave's fitness is not up to nrl standard. Which is a shame for him and the team because he has talent. But he needs to start to take his training and nutrition seriously if he wants to play at this level.
    • I do not think Vave fitness is his problem. If it was BA would not keep picking him, I believe it is that he is a lazy player more than fitness as it would not make a difference how fit he was.

  • Then he needs to keep stepping up his training. He's a professional athlete that trains every day. He should be fitter. If he's not then why not.
