is cooper cronk getting what he wants............

from all the cooper cronk rumour mill floating around the last month or so, the question is, is he getting ripped of at melbounre.... is he being forced into playing out his contract at the storm for less then his worth, with rumours storm officialls have taken legall advice to block parra from making a move.....

Surley his agents will do everything they can to offer him the best money on offer and that isnt at the storm, with parra throwing almost double the money at him for his signiture, from what i would understand cooper cronk could come out and say NO i will not be negotiating with other clubs, but instead storm officials have sort legal advice to stop contract negotiations.. this tells me that cronk is looking at contracts and the storm and countering this........

im sure knowing that slater, smith will be on bigger contracts and knowing inglis will leave for one will get under cronks skin...

the question now is, is cronk getting what he wants, is he happy to take a pay cut and rebuild the storm or is he unhappy the club has taken legall action to stop him negotiating with rival clubs...

IMO he would look better in a parra jersy anyway.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • since when have clubs put the players best interests first.....
  • In all fairness to Melbourne, how would you feel if, mid contract, Cronulla or Manly offered Hayne $750k per year and he tried to walk out on us??
  • i think its different circumstances........ but i do see your point.......
  • I am sooo over anybody who thinks that Coopers contract means anything anymore and that Melbourne have a legal right to keep him.
Let's review the situation. The Storm have decided to fraudulently cheat the system by paying overs to their players (weather or nor the players no about this is beside the point)
I am quite sure that it would have been the Storm who first broke their end of the agreement by cheating every singe player and possibly allowing them to be linked to illegal activity.
The Storm had an obligation to their players to ensure that their deals were legit and that nothing in their contracts was below the board.
By breaching this, their contracts mean shit and they do not have the right to keep anyone.
I would go as far as to say that if Cooper or any other player was legitimately unaware of the situation, they could almost sue the club for ruining their reputations.
  • im getting over it too sutto, but i its hard to ignore...
  • Cronks contract is currently $400k I believe which he signed last year and was long term 4-5 years. That seems low for the number 2 halfback in the comp.

What if, and it's a big what if, Cronk was getting side payments outside his contract, but now with what's happened the storm have told him they can no longer do this, and he is dirty about it. Dirty because GI and Smith have signed 2-3 contracts and the nrl has told storm they have to honour the higher contracts. Meanwhile Cronk signed one?

Would make sense then that he wanted out.
  • that does make sense normo.. it sounds like a good possibility.... hopefully more unfolds within the next few weeks
  • I couldnt give a rats reggie about CC!!

and he dont play for us he is currently contracted to the Storm!!

The more money we throw or any other club at Cronk means the more money and general market value of most players will increase also!!

Lets give the CC stuff a rest for a week!!
  • woosa
  • That is a fair point Eeldarado. I suspect the departure of Mateo, Inu and KK had in some part to do with the comparatively modest contract offers they received, meanwhile Hayne, Tahu, Poore and Mortimer got comparatively very lucrative contracts.

Despite their denials, the players would have a reasonable idea on what each other earn and I'm sure, as in any industry or profession, jealousy would arise.

If Parra threw a bucket load of cash at Cronk, other important players in our team would feel that they too should receive 'overs' for their continued services and we might end up losing important players again.

That's one of the reasons why I don't mind the idea of Matt Orford.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great player and is godly at the club level, but he just hasn't been able to stand out at the origin level.
