Iongi 8 weeks, Doorey season

Isaiah Iongi will miss a minimum of 8 weeks with his injury, puts him in line for a return against Newcastle in Round 13 off a bye in Round 12. Joash gets 7 games at the helm.

Unfortunate for Doorey who will be missing the season and start of next season with his ACL. Such a shame as he was starting to get into form after season, after season of injuries.

  • Shit go

    • I mean at least there is Joash, granted not on Iongi's level but a very handy back-up.

      • Joash can handle it no drama, our front line defence needs to improve

    • Damn, two of our best performers!

Surely Ryles need to give Teacum Brown a go now.
Also we need to throw the cheque book at BOTH Xerri and Tago, even if it means trading Russell, Penisini or the kids in reserves because clearly Ryles ain't giving any of them a go.

      • Zip,  I would prefer Timoko to Tago.

        • Agree Tragic.

  • Wow, 4 games in a 2 middles already gone for the season! Surely this would necessetate a mid-season purchse with salary cap dispensation? Hoping someone becomes available soon.

    • Issue is who for? The comp is starved of available middles as so many teams want one

      • With the way the game is heading, I'd be looking for back rowers who can do some minutes in the middle. My forward pack would be full of hard running mobile back rowers

  • Sucks for Doorey, he worked hard to get that first grade spot, earned it, and copped an ACL, it's a brutal sport. Hope he comes back strong and fit next season. This now looks like it opens the spot up for Moretti, and then Teancum comes in. If there's a silver lining in this shit sandwich, it's that Teancum gets a first grade opportunity after some impressive trial form.

Joash getting a crack is also something to be admired. Working hard in the shadows and biding his time, I really hope he makes the most of it and crushes it on the field. The short king fullbacks like Jye Grey, Trey Fuller, Keanu Kini have shown you don't need to be 6ft to make an impact on the game these days. Lucky we brought in Pezet to play 5/8 and still had Joash to cover FB, or then we'd be in deep shit.

"The Eels aren't anywhere near as bad as others are making out. The season isn't won in the first 4 games, it's won in the last game.
The Eels are going to be challenged with the loss of players but they are in the hunt and that sounds good to me."
