Interesting read

Taken from a FB account named rugbyleaguecoach, his real name escapes me but is known by a lot of players and coaches in the NRL. I'll post what his written and some of the comments posted.

I just don't know what Mitchell Moses is going to achieve other than more money if he goes to the Tigers. He's in a hiding to nothing if results aren't going their way. Big BUT he will be a KING if they make top 8

POST

Results from Wests Tigers footy review (posting these because I know someone at todays funeral will be entertained by these)

🏉 Confusion around the defensive structure;

Means Madge confused them. Either that or they are covering for the fact that some of them simply can’t tackle !

🏉 An inconsistent attacking structure:

Madge maybe changed some game plans but again, suggests certain players shouldn’t cope with what was being asked. Covers their own Chaminda Vaas’s.

🏉 Too many team changes;

Newsflash gents. That’s what happens when your team is playing rubbish.

🏉 Maguire shouldering too much of the coaching load;

“We wanted someone nicer to us to coach us”

🏉 The club’s struggle to attract star recruits

In other words “all my team mates are rubbish except me!”

🏉 The need for a much stronger culture.

“There are lots of selfish people in our team”

When’s the last time a huge football review like this (with leaked results) led to success in the ensuing years ?

The final whistle - The need for a much stronger culture should be the first thing implemented.

After a chat with Oliver Gildart he pointed out it was the off field changes that stood out to him more than the on field stuff between his stint at Tigers and Roosters.

The first day of training at Roosters was a coffee before training and a chat about family, something that hadn’t happened for the previous months.

A great culture within the team can reap massive rewards without even focusing on tactical and defensive game plans.

Josh Starling - lol, I know Madge well enough to know there is no confusion in his defence. He knows what he’s talking about. The tigers problem is they are soft, they have no go about them whatsoever and the backbone when times get tough is non existent. Have as many reviews as you want but the bottom line is they are weak and it’s lead by the actions of their star halfback, he’s played 170+ games with no finals!!! How is he still employed let along on a million dollars, Latrell has won 2 comps and gets more hate than that clown.
When you’re the marquee man and the highest paid you need to lead by example and when you have the top dogs giving you a free pass with no accountability then why would he change? He gets anything he wants and you can’t expect others to be better when your star isn’t. It’s the same problem at Newcastle with Ponga.

  • Thanks Fitz, but you're assuming MM is going to Wests........nothing i have seen suggests this; and like some others i am sure he will make a call when he is back from leave.

    People forget that not all teams can be successful and Parra were awful on and off the field for a while, and while we have not won a comp, we have been competitive and time will tell if the current coach can get us there but we have a competitive squad.

    • He came back earlier in the week.

      • Ok, but again how does anyone know this was unusual? And or he will sign elsewhere?

    • Coryn maybe this could be true but some halves can go into their 30's, but time will tell along with a decent five eight and pack!

      • Moses seems like the type that'd need 5 years to " Gel " in a new team. I reckon Moses could go well into his 30's for sure Mitchy , But I just don't think he's remotely good enough to lift a struggling team off the bottom of the table.  He can't even turn our team around when we are struggling in games against cellar dwellers.
        He needs a good team around him or he's pretty much shirhouse would be my prediction should he leave and play elsewhere.

        • Thats a good point mate and also mine; as he would need a dynamic 5/8 etc. as well but who knows what may occur. I just cannot see him leaving to go to wests etc. let alone C'bury but hey funnier things have occurred.

          If he went to an Easts / Melb then different story.

    • Stop it Coryn, we won't be winning shit - you know it, 99.9% of our fans know it too.

  • The problem allowing players to sign a year before they can leave. If the NRL can improve & run this game better. Iron out all the problems well they need to look no further than the mirror. They are the problem, they cause all this confusion in all aspects of the game. Rule changes, bunker, refs, salary cap, judiciary out comes, sponsors, TPA, recruitment it's all a shambles due to how this game run. They are more worried about how they are seen by the greater community than the supporters that are true to the sport. It is why players have no respect for the teams, culture & the sport itself. Little thing as running on to the field, cheerleaders holding up sponsors so the players can run through it, no players enter the field & go straight to the wings & fullback positions. It is unprofessional, it's a sport that everyone should take seriously, but we can't. State of origin, bloody hell now that they allowed islanders to play state of origin & go player for their parents nations we have a bloody mess. Again this is because our administration is clueless & no spine can't even keep up with tradition it was already laid out. The ARL wasn't as professional but they did a great job, the game was played with huge emotion, teams hated each other on the field, it was all about the game, not some minority group that the game & player & I'll even add supporters, that we need to support. Just adder crap from the NRL, this game will take years to get any sort of balance.

  • Its all a smoke screen. Moses has handled these negotiations superbly, he has stayed out of the spotlight himself, stated his contract will be sorted by xmas. Has patiently waited to know what the cap will be for 2023 / 2024 etc. Moses is going no where. He is Blue and Gold baby, loves the club loves his position and loves his life at the Eels. His manager is doing the credible thing and ensuring that Moses " and rightly so" gets his rightful percentage of the new salary cap. Moses should be and will be our top billed player.

    The nervous nellies just need to hold there verbual diarrhea and let the process play out. There is no way Moses can sign right now not knowing what the cap is. In my opinion he should be our captain.

    • I really can't see moses going to the tigers, the dogs or the eels are his best options by far.

      Does anyone know what the dogs forward pack will look like in 2024?, they will have a pretty good backline but what will their forward pack look like?. If I were moses I would want to know what that dogs pack will be before even considering going there
