Injuries: Hayne May Play

Parramatta recruit Ben Roberts thinks star fullback Jarryd Hayne will be fit to play his side's NRL season opener against Brisbane on Friday.

Hayne injured his knee in a trial against Penrith and hasn't trained fully since but Roberts, who made the off-season switch from Canterbury to join the Eels, believes the NSW representative will line-up against the Broncos on Friday.

"He's just looking after himself and trying to get ready for that game, fingers crossed he'll be right," Roberts told reporters on Tuesday.

"We're all staying pretty positive. I think we're going to wait right until the end there to know if he's going to be playing or not but we're pretty confident he is."

Hayne is just one of several injury doubts for the Eels ahead of the first round, with Tim Mannah (knee), Reni Maitua (ankle) and Willie Tonga (hamstring) all under clouds.

Mannah said he expects to be fit to play the Broncos but it will be a case of wait and see as far as Maitua and Tonga are concerned.

Hopefully Roberts is right and the Hayne Plane hits the tarmac on Friday Night.

I see Keon's price as irrelevant (within reason), because he is an absolute no brainer for the Eels.

Paulo was fantastic last season, though, he’s fighting the clock & Keon is a perfect replacement longer term.
