  • Very good.
  • What about Ivan.

Gets sacked by Gould then goers back for more. I wonder if he likes getting pegged?

And if you were a young bloke making his way in the NRL, would you really want your Daddy coaching you? It's a bit weird I reckon.

And I can't see how this can't eventually lead to trouble. If the coach doesn't perform will the club still hold onto him to keep the (overated) halfback happy? If the halfback is playing shite will the coach drop him? Other players will eventually see favouritism - real or perceived.

They say Gus Gould is a smart operator but I reckon this move is really, really dumb.

    • Have to agree Kram; the whole saga is weird and I agree. Gould imo has not got a great track record with clubs but I will see; and he is the master of spin of course.

Hate to say it but Kent was spot on a few months ago when he said this will all play out in Oct. spot on and less heat on Gould / Cleary and the club.

    • It’s going to be interesting in a couple of years if there’s a better option in the halves then Cleary ,does Ivan make the call to move aside his son or does nepotism win out.
The rumblings that can occur in a playing group with any perceived favouritism can quickly derail a season or several.
The only way this is successful is they build a side to suit Nathan and and hope his form holds where any detractors are moved on instantaneously.
    • Seems like  a way to get a pretty good coach and keep cleary Jnr under the cap by paying daddy instead.

Could be a master stroke or disaster stoke.

    • I have to agree Kram, I wouldn't want to be coached by my dad at that level nor would I think it would be a good idea to coach my son at that level. More chance of this ending badly than good I would think.

    • I’m glad I’m not the only who thinks junior is just a bit overrated

  • Tigers w*nkers!

  • I think Phil Gould has lost the plot! Too many tackles has affected his thinking! Can't see Ivan Cleary making any huge impact at the Panthers! There will be a mass exodus of players before the end of 2019.
