Im thinking that if the eels do get Jordan Atkins for next season, he could support Grothe in the wings, while Burt could be placed at 5/8 or maybe even Halfback. Personally i would prefer him to go to 5/8.
Burt is more than capable of slotting into the 5/8 position.
Here are some reasons why he could be:

1. Has an excellent kicking game.
2. Has good vision
3. Good dummy half runs.
4. Can lead the attacks by himself.
5. Adds experience, Spark and skill to the halves combination.
6. Can help mortimer develop into better player.
7. Has always wanted to play in 5/8 position.

What do you guys reckon??

  • I have said before...Burty could be a 6....why not.....he is wasted on the wing....
  • I have always liked the idea of burt playing somewhere in the halves..
It reakon it could be worth a shot if we dont sign anyone.
He would bring some sort of kicking game which is beter then the one we have now.
His defence would be my only concern.
  • Burty is going to Wentworthville.
  • God bless
  • no chance,
  • Can't remember carney, campese, benji, soward, & the other 6's that are in the finals...doing to many tackles...they finished up OK....
  • He should be tried in the halves during the trial matches of next season.
  • Every 5/8th gets targeted in defence, they tend to be smaller guys so what else would you expect?!
  • Have to agree with PP on this one.
We can test him out at 6 in the trials if need be, to see how he copes with the added workload, and the possible defensive issues, and if he handles himself well in both regards in perhaps 2, if not all of the trial games, then I'd say give him a crack come Rd 1 and start him at 6, thus paving the way for Jordan Atkins to play on the wing.
  • Ricky is absolutely correct
