I’m so pissed off about Brown

Sorry, I get it, the bloke has to look after himself. But screw that.
My problem is that he signed a bullshit contract with Parra to 2031 knowing full well it meant absolutely nothing. The first opportunity he got, he f**ked us over. This all despite the club investing in him from when he was 15 and brought him through the system, they stayed by his side when he decided to sexually abuse a young lady on a dance floor, was rightfully stood down and ruined our finals chances that year. Not to mention all the fan love he gets.
The bloke is self centred. I know many will blame his manager but the final decision has to be Browns.
If it were me, I'd let him leave tomorrow. F**k him off.
I always liked the bloke, but he has shown his true colours - Money rules, contracts mean nothing, receive but not give back, loyalty is a myth.

  • I think Brown was always pretty clear that loyalty wasn't high on his list. The All Blacks talk was always top of his mind. Parramatta was his employer, not his club.

I can't begrudge the guy, if I was a professional sportsperson I'd take the money too. Careers are short and a career ending injury can strike at any time.

We shouldn't have let his manager put the stupid Player Options in his contract. That's what enabled this running and uncertainty.

    • I hear you. But loyalty is a word that gets tossed about too loosely. With loyalty comes respect. And when one side of a relationship shows loyalty and respect over many years and the other dismisses it at the first opportunity, you have to question the persons character and motive. The guy owes Parra and us fans more.

  • I'm not angry about DB leaving, that's his managers call to make - we all understand the commercial realities that comes with making such a huge decision - it's life changing for him and his family. I feel it could have been been done in a cleaner more transparent fashion, now unfortunately the club created an environment that  allowed  DB and his manager to behave in the manner they did, the email to all clubs, DB is even quoted a saying the 8 year deal signed with the eels is about " financial stability and flexibility ' seriously what a load BS! The club  supported him since the age of 16, supported him again when he played up on 2 seperate occassions - DB image has been shattered, but guess what he doesn't care, do we really want a player who act like mercenaries wearing eels colours?? I don't! This is remnance of BA shitty legacy, we witnessed they same carry on with Gutho during contract negotiations - wake up people!! Our club has been taken hostage by few a  clowns pretending they loved and had the best interests of club at heart! Thankfully Jason is on board, I have complete and Total faith in what his doing! BA never had a vision or a  solid game plan - his footy IQ is below average!! Anyway rant over let's bring on the new era!!

    • Like I said at the time,  agreeing to a player option after we'd offered him a lucrative and very long contract was ridiculous and ameturish.  We took all the risk for absaloutey zero reward.  The club should thank our lucky stars that Newcastle bailed us out as we'd be spending the next umpteen years losing young players with no guarantee that Brown would even be around.  If Brown played well, we'd be upgrading him every other year , if he played shit or was injured we'd be carrying his salary. It was the second worse contract offered in NRL history.

You offer a contract with security for a player for that kind of term, you simply laugh at any player manager requesting a player option.

Newcastle are literally our Knights in shining armour here .

      • Agree,  DB has left the building BUT it's not due to any strategic planning it's purely LUCK !! It's laughable

      • Seriously I'm livid and fumiing about what's happened, not really bothered about DB leaving, the circus act in putting together the most ridiculous structured contract in NRL history! My mind is racing I'm bedside myself!! Lol

  • He was offered a ridiculous contract and reeks of desperation by the Knights. Look at the shit show at the Cowboys with Taumololo. They still have him on the books till 2028! Not the player he was when he signed. DCE was a known quantity and consistent performer when he signed his 10 yr contract, something DB admits he is not.

I agree with Wiz, Knights did us a massive favour getting us out of this stupid contract.

I also recall a conspiracy theory a few months back that O'Brien will be sacked and replaced with BA sometime this season. He already has his son there, and his foster son is now following suit. One wonders......
