  • It would be nice to replace Semi from within. Even better if we unearthed the next Jarryd Hayne or Krisnan Inu.

    • Great comments Coryn.

Could this be the beginning of "The curse of the #2 jersey?"

I honestly think we can fill his position from within.

  • His stats in every department are off the charts, meters, line breaks ,

    He is the real deal
    • I'd say more games in wenty first
    • By the time he is eased into Wenty and ready for NRL, Semi will be back.
    • Chief : I notice that he was not selected two or three weeks ago and coming off the bench for two weeks or so. I don`t know the reason for that---perhaps he was injured? I hope that it is not that he has decided to look elsewhere because he is not getting a go in ist or 2nd grade.Perhaps another club has signed him up and is keeping it secret. BA is slow in these matters.

  • Mushy, did you have to raise that word?

I agree that Semi is a rare bird indeed and really showing his value at the moment, more especially in attack, needs to learn to read defence plays a bit better though.

Next year when we are without him is going to be a challenge in certain ways, & replacing Semi is going to be done likely in name only with whoever playing there being on edge as many fans will be watching him and to not let the team down, in essence perhaps another Semi.

That may happen and may not, we may even get someone who is better and plays a more exciting brand of football on the wing. With Gutho back in 2018 he is guaranteed a spot in the back 6/7, but I for one sincerely hope a young player like Greg does get a chance in the top grade and then its up to him to secure the spot.

Thing for me is that I don't think there needs to be a big external recruiting of players, given the main team we now have will be a year older but more so experienced as a team together, it will be more about getting quality in the bench and 2nd tier players to keep the top squad on their toes, the more from the local nursery that can do and achieve that the better.

    • Colin, Gutho will only play 6 or 7 if there are injuries there, otherwise he'll occupy probably Taka's centre position. Why weaken probably almost the best halves combination in the NRL. Notice how better our team has played with Norman and Moses in the halves.

      • Glenn, what I was referring to in saying the back 6/7 was that he will be able to cover any of those 6 or 7 backline spots, rather than specifying the halves positions only.

I guess I should have put 1 - 7 and any of those spots he would own however I would prefer him not to be in the 2 or 5 spots but more involved.

  • This bloke is already easily NRL standard in attack. He could make an impact right away. But he would be a liability in defence at this stage. It's significant that he has barely played ISP despite dominating under 20s. Hopefully he has a big off season and becomes the next Nofoaluma.
