  • I enjoy AFL, league is my favourite code. The AFL do so many off field things better than the NRL. The Brownlow, the draft, weekly analysis, grand final week, honouring past champions just to name a few.

  • It's fun to play, but it has to be one of the worst spectacles to watch in professional sport around the world.

It's a scrappy mess and a glorified game of scrambles, how they get so many to a game truly astounds me. I've been to a couple of live games and unless there's some action in front you, you can't see a goddamm thing around that huge field, and all people are doing is booing and screaming "BALL".

I will literally watching anything else except AFL.

  • Dont

  • Agree 👍 I still don't understand why it's 6 points for a goal and only 1 point for the other and kicking the ball 🏈 like a soccer ball is also a goal.

    • Cumberland Eel You never understand/understood why its 6 for a goal and 1 for a behind?

Well those big sticks that are in the middle and the 2 smaller ones each side of them having something to do with that.

Really good question of kicking like a soccer ball .....might have some similarity with soccer.....but hey, that would be hard to work out.

I understand the CAMELS are being herded up your way, why not ask one of them before you get to next years GF.

  • It's a great game if you understand it. I never watched it as a kid, but a bloke I went to school with started playing for the Swans around the same time the Super League bullshit was going down, so I watched a few games out of interest. I'd still watch League over AFL but I can completley understand why it's so popular.

In saying that, It definitely has it's problems. The umpires have way too much say and there's too much grey area around each umpires interpretation of the rules. It really needs two good teams playing to make it a good game, and the quality drops off dramatically if there's any rain about. Much of this could apply to League also. I doubt anyone who has taken the time to try and understand it (without pre determined judgement) would think it's a terrible game.

  • Then you have AFLW. That's next level boring and Yawnion, it should only be watched if you have the ability to fast forward to any action.

  • Nope
