Both were terrible yesterday in cup along with the rest
The Match Review Committee has referred Couchman straight to the judiciary.
I feel sorry for Couchman here. There's a 100 of these tackles each week, and 99 of them don't result in an injury. In this case, it really sucks for Hopgood with season over, and no doubt the punishment handed to Couchman will be somewhat reflective of that. As Ryles said in the presser, none of the players mean to do tackles like this, it's a side effect of how the game is played now.
I do not solely blame Couchman for this incident - I blame the constant changes to the game overall. PVL and his clown offsider Abdo should be fronting up about the way the game has been changed. Players cannot even challenge a kick....yet we have seen at least 3 tackles go wrong with shoulders hitting an opponent in the head and basically three outcomes.
