It's because the Melbourne player was KOed and has an automatic 11 day stand down so the player has to automatically be punished in a similar manner that's what it is.
The Iongi head high/crusher was the pisstake how can they clear head contact then send Iongi for an HIA when as above they've said there's nothing in the contact. What the bunker is looking for is the effect of the contact and they rule accordingly.
Could it be argued that the ball handling / pushed passes were a direct result of how the game was being officiated in the first 40 mins? Melbourne allowed to hold down in the ruck longer than us, yet it was Parramatta who were on the brunt of the six again calls. A player binned in the first 30 seconds takes a lot out of the tank. Then we had the Kelly 'knock on' and subsequent failed captains challenge. All of that adds up. If I didn't know any better, I would say it almost looked like the NRL were no longer concerned about covering up their corrupt management of the competition. It was that obvious.
Would Parramatta have won? Likely not. Melbourne played well and were allowed to dominate the ruck like they always are. But the way Parramatta started to play after that first 20 mins, and the final result, I believe were a direct result of how the game was officiated.
We had ascendancy after the first try, we marched all the way down the field and turned the ball over in the red zone. We had them on the 5th at their 40, then a six again, then another at tackle 3 or 4, Try over in the corner. Rinse and repeat after the Kelly "knock on", marched down the field. Stefano steps 1m off the mark behind our markers, markers called off side andn Grant straight through. It was beyond a joke.
If this is the benchmark for how the Eels are being policed this season, any minor or accidental infringement will be punished to the maximum. Biased or influenced refs maybe, but the MRC is a different beast and while we can fight the charges after the games it would help during those 80 mins.
its a long season ahead guys. Maybe the lesser or two evils was to let Bromax go. Making NRL/HQ look the way they did with how everything happened wasnt going to bode well in the long run
I meant more of 'if we didnt push from the start' type of thing. Yeah Lomax would have played against us, but maybe some of the suspect calls wouldnt have happened.
All speculation and hindsight really. Im sure there would have been discussions around potential ramifications for proceeding the way the club did

Muttman, the biggest issue is the players throwing shit passes and offloads out of their ass holes that gave Melbourne all that possession, and we all know fatigue sets in and thus we couldn't hold them in the ruck, causing the damage with 6…"

Why can't it be both?

Even if we do let Lomax go, we will still get punished for the subpoena to the NRL.
Yeah 100%
