    • I used to get to the Jouro's Club (24hrs) in the city forΒ  band related all-nighters. Plenty of paper boys would come through, before and after work and holy shit can journos put it away....cheap drinks too

I partook in NO allnighters at The Taxi Club, With your new avatar iΒ  just want to be clear.Β

  • What is it with Journos and having a drinking problem? Is this a common thing, or just with Rugby League journos?

    • I think it goes back to drinking with sources/potential sources, building rapport, buying drinks. All sports reporters really have is their contacts, so you gotta "work" them. It's effective too, to a point.....you are talking to people half in the tank, so you end up scribbling down Hopes, dreams, revenge and them just trying to please you with a juicy tale. It's also adjacent to theΒ  entertainment industry, which rafts along on a river of booze and coke

      • That makes complete sense.

        • The old school Crime Beat reporters used to drink with the Wallopers AND drink with the crims.

    • Im a young fella but dont really touch the stuff. Horrible tasting and makes you feel like crap the next day, I'm good on that πŸ˜‚

      • I'm an old fella, and now when I drink I get hectic 'hanxiety' which is really starting to turn me off drinking altogether. I'd much prefer a simple Hangover.

        • Seems to me Hoops was trying to run from something in his life, drinking to reach that kind of state where you can't even put a sentence together. Must be some life challenges he's gotΒ

          • Nah Eli, If you drink enough, you become an alcholic. Then, conversely, you can never drink enough.

Weed is usually quite user friendly, hence it's newfound, still dubious medical statusΒ Β
