Hip replacement surgery

Hey all,As the title indicates, I’ve just undergone a total right hip replacement (7 days post surgery) and I was wondering if some of the supporters on this page whi have had this procedure done before can answer a couple of questions for me. (Sorry it’s not parra related, but I’ve got a few concerns and I’m hoping my fellow parra brothers can assist me). As my surgeon has told me shit.....1) I’m quiet young for this procedure (41 years old).....roughly how long are these bad boys meant to last?2) currently my right leg (all the way to the foot) has swollen to almost 1 and a half times the size of my left leg......did this happen to you guys?3) I’m getting real nasty muscle spasms in my hip (mainly when I’m laying down) and with these spasms comes intense pain....again, did this happen to you guys after yours?4) it feels like my right leg is now longer than my left leg,....did you guys experience this?I’m off to see my local dr, but that’s not until Monday. So any info from those who have undergone this procedure, I would really appreciate it (I’m not overly worried at present, but I thought the pain levels would of subsided by now).Cheers all, and again apologies for posting non parra blogBrax

  • If i was you i go to a dr who didnt do the opp to found out is that normal it dont sound normal to me

    • No worries Brax, it's the orf-season & you're allowed to post anything you like. Well, almost anything.

I'm sure there'd be someone here who can help you with your concerns.

Maybe someone from the 1Eyed Nursery Home? But you might have to wait a little while because I think they're in the middle of having their sponge-bath right about now.

    • Cheers Paul, the Dr on Monday isn’t the one who did it, so I’ll be interested to see what he has to say.
Super Strong - the way I’m going I’ll be in that nursery with them real soon. Bloody 41 and having a hip replacement lol, thought 41 was meant to be ‘mid-life crisis’ age not ‘retirement’ it’s 1700, time to go to bed age lol
  • go to st vincents hospital  and get it checked out, it may have a infection ,st vincents have the best , and a rehab  unit.

my friend had two  1 year apart,  they send you home  about 5 days after the op, to avoid infections from the hospital. and will arange  nurses to come to your house and dress the cut areas, you should be useing stocking to avoid  blood clots..

you can go private or public there at st vincents , i am near sure they will see you and do a complete check up.....

you should go back to your surgeon  soon thats wise, good luck god bless.

  • What a b1tch you are Georgie. Nobody asked  for your comment dumb dumb. Why don’t you post another coaching carousel blog that has just been posted 5 times.

  • 1) I’m quiet young for this procedure (41 years old).....roughly how long are these bad boys meant to last?

My wife had this done 21 days agao. Was up walking with crutches the day of the surgery and home the next day
    2) currently my right leg (all the way to the foot) has swollen to almost 1 and a half times the size of my left leg......did this happen to you guys?

My wife has had no isues like this mate
    3) I’m getting real nasty muscle spasms in my hip (mainly when I’m laying down) and with these spasms comes intense pain....again, did this happen to you guys after yours?

    Nothing noticed

She is 44 so still young as well. She started to drive this week and is walking little bits with no aid. Hope you can get this sorted mate.

    • Cheers mate. I’m up walking without crutches as of today, had to spend 5 days in hospital. The swelling concerns me a bit now lol.
I’m not allow to drive for 4 weeks, I’m now real jealous of your wife lol.
      Thanks for the info mate
      • Awesome stuff mate. Hope all goes well

  • The best thing to do would be to get it check out from the specialist. I my father had a double and was walking in a few weeks. I also know the the hip is the deepest bone in the body, so make sure you take good care of it and try not to get it infected

  • Brax, check with Slugg because i am pretty sure he just had his  done
