Hindmarsh: Love to See More of Darwin

Eels legend Nathan Hindmarsh is in Darwin ahead of Saturday's clash between the Eels and the Raiders at TIO Stadium, and says he can't wait to see more of the amazing Territory.

As part of a packed schedule, Hindmarsh has been travelling to schools in Darwin to conduct rugby league clinics, helping present the inaugural Eels Cup, visiting athletes at the Northern Territory Institute of Sport, and joining the launch of the "Men's Shed" at Malak.

The Men's Shed forms part of the Community Shed at Malak, and more widely, is part of "The Underground", a name for all the ways in which the local community comes together to support each other, celebrate culture, and work to improve wellbeing for everyone who lives in Malak.

The launch was made possible by the generosity of the Malak community, who attended, brought activities for local kids like pass-the-ball and the smoothie bike, ran a volunteer sausage sizzle and even donated the bananas for kids to make their own smoothies.

"This event here is great," Hindmarsh said after a tour of the Community Shed with the Creative Producer.

"It’s all about bringing he loccal community together, different cultures, different beliefs, and the kids are loving it, too."

Hindmarsh also said his contribution to school clinics in Darwin had been a hit with the locals, as he plans to fit in some more adventures before leaving #eelsterritory.

"[The kids] love my bullrush, you can’t beat bullrush!" Hindmarsh said.

"I’ve enjoyed it so far and I would love to see a little bit more Darwin. I'd love to see a crocodile or something like that."

"Maybe wrangle a crocodile ... or the crocodile could eat Cayless."

"It is a mixture. But saying MON is the reason for Pezet is farcical. Ryles would have wanted it and MON got it done. That is practically MON's job. Same with GM's in other sports. Get an idea of what the coach wants, goes out and gets the best he…"
