It is known from NFL, American Football ,experience that helmets provide zero protection to concussion. Is there any evidence that helmets provide protection preventing broken jaws? Even a reduction of, say, 25% would suggest that helmets should be worn. It would seem that the NFL type helmet would protect, to some extent, a front on hit to the chin. Not so sure about a hit to the side of the jaw as we saw with JT in the West Tiger`s game last week end? I would hate to see helmets worn in Rugby League but broken jaws are anything but pleasant to experience and see.

Let's not change the game anymore.
I pay good money to see stupid people who get paid a shìtload more than me bash into each other in the game I'm slowly falling out of love with.
Also you may need some body protection because IDG with a helmet could do some damage.
And then you may need some shoulder pads to protect you collarbone when trying to tackle someone with a helmet who ducks into the tackle.
Hangon, there's a game like that already.
Gave you thought of following the NFL Robert. You'd find plenty to complain about there.
How any of that relates to the absurdity of making NRL NFL I don't know. But even NFL folk say that a helmet is your third line of defense after rules and coaching. That means when we let Ryan James escape suspension for breaking Tedesco's jaw, our rules have failed to deter harmful actions. It's easy to change a rule, and much easier to change a rule than figure out how to compress 15 inches of absorptive force into one inch.
