Heart gone.

JR needs to realise he has ripped the heart out of the team so he better have plan. All good and well to walk around the club smiling and dropping grenades but its also important to know where the faint beating pulse of the team is coming from. Some of his rookie head coach traits are showing.

Sure Gutho is a tad slower and his defence wasn't the best at times this year. Speed you can't fix, but we know Gutho will be better in defence next year. Most of his bad defensive reads this year was him trying to cover the bad defensive decisions of others.

Gutho was the only player that I believe bleed blue and gold. No one ever tries as much as him. His passion and love for the club was always on display. You felt just a little safer knowing Gutho was in the team to guide.

I'm not sure how the rest of the squad will react to this decision either. Gutho was pretty close to most but especially Moses.

I think Gutho feels a little heartbroken leaving and I reckon most of the fans will feel the same way.

Like I said, JR better have a big immediate plan. Enough breaking but start showing us the building!

  • Why wouldn't he have a plan? I respect what your saying EAM, but Ofcourse he has a plan, just be patient and we will have a new set of players in our top 30, and why wouldn't we want that we nearly won the spoon this year, why would we keep the same 30

    • I'm sure he has a plan. Doesn't mean it's the right one.
Yes, changes need to be made. And I agree with him offloading most of the players he has. But I don't agree with losing Gutho.

      • We all see the headline "Gutho released" and automatically assume Ryles or the club doesn't want him. Have you all thought about, maybe... just maybe the coach and club wants him to stay but are being sensible with its roster and salary cap management and won't compete by paying overs, especially for another 3 years? Sometimes you have to let them walk for them to get a better deal, to look after his own family. That's football.

        • I think that's the General consensus what most are saying

        • Well if that is true, just say it. It's an easy press release. I believe that will be the narrative, but the only reason Gutho will be leaving is because he isn't getting the respect he deserves.

          • EAM,

My guess is the likes of Hooper, Ritchie et at will go with the "disrespect" or "lost plot" narrative, while others maybe Chammas, Carayniss, Proszenko will go with a version of sad but "reality". We'll see.

No doubt Hooper will be a noisy vessel.

My guess is the narrative, along with fans, will fall into those two extremes - with a middle camp shrugging into "mixed feelings."

PS: If Gutho were the "heart and soul" its left its body for another quick smart.

          • there is a thing called 1 november. Any deals before. that would be a breach right

          • He got very well compensated for his efforts at Parra. And while I agree he will be remembered as a Parra legend I also agree noway is he worth keeping for another 3 years. And that was the sticking point. Gutho wants 3 more years. Finally Paar didn't bend and pay overs or some dumb option in a contract.

        • club needs to come out with a very thoughtful and respectful PR spiel regards Guts' farewell. That'll help.

        • What he said
