Dear all,
After a thorough process which attracted a number of high quality candidates, I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Jason Ryles as the Club's new Head Coach for the next four seasons from 2025 onwards.
Jason will join the Eels from his current club, the Melbourne Storm.
After a long and successful career as a player where he represented both NSW and Australia, Ryles began his coaching career in 2014. During his coaching career, Ryles has been an Assistant Coach with the Melbourne Storm between 2016 and 2020, which included 4 grand finals and 2 premiership wins, an Assistant Coach with the England Rugby team between 2020 and 2021, an Assistant Coach with the Sydney Roosters between 2022 and 2023 before returning to the Storm in 2024.
Jason is considered one of the best emerging coaches in the game and brings a wealth of experience in winning environments and high performance cultures to the Eels, while also having been mentored by two of the most respected and successful coaches in the game in Craig Bellamy and Trent Robinson.
We are entering a new era for our football program, and we’re thrilled to secure someone of Jason’s calibre as the leader of our NRL team moving forward. He is highly regarded as a coach and we believe that he has a huge future in the NRL.
Jason's proven track record in winning environments, combined with his passion for developing young talent perfectly aligns with the direction we are taking our Club. We have a strong NRL roster and a group of exciting young players coming through our pathways programs. We believe Jason is the ideal person to build a strong connection within the playing group, the Club and the passionate Parramatta Eels fanbase to deliver success.
I am confident that Jason will play a key role in strengthening the links between our football team and our members, fans, sponsors and everyone within the Eels community. This will put our Club in a strong position to challenge for premierships in the years to come.
The 2024 season has fallen short of where we want to be as a Club. It has been a tough journey, and we know that you, our loyal members, are disappointed. I want to thank you for standing with us and supporting our Club during this period.
With the appointment of a new head coach and the emergence of our promising young talent, we are confident in the foundation we are building for future success. Our current playing group and staff are giving their all to ensure that we can end the season on a positive note to take into next season.
Together we look forward to the next era of our football program and we know this will be a positive period for our Club.
I look forward to introducing you to Jason when he joins the Club later this year.
Jim Sarantinos
Chief Executive Officer
Parramatta Eels
What concerns me massively with this announcement is that CEO, Jim Sarintos said "This will put our Club in a strong position to challenge for premierships in the years to come"
He's delusional if he thinks this current roster is capable of winning a comp. This current playing group is simply not good enough, and if Ryles is coming into this Head Coach role with a board that believes the roster is good enough, they are setting up Ryles to fail. A lot more needs to change than the Head Coach.
As long as he's able to convince Lomax to honour his contract, resign Talagi and Guymer to long term deals and then get rid of a few dead wood forwards... then I'm happy.
Yes this would be a decent start to build on !!!! And give fans and other players a very much needed psychological boost .
i know at times I feel " shell shocked " we are in the place we find ourselves in ....
It won't take long to change the team we have now ,i believe quite a few names will disappear from what Arthur had
What concerns me is that Sarantinos in his statement right there says "We have a strong NRL roster". My god this is worrying if thats his belief. What are his standards. We are Stone Motherless Last with this "strong NRL roster".
Anyway Welcome aboard Jason Ryles. The next 4 years are going to be a ride.
Until the the entire constitution is re written and the rubbish from both the leagues club board and football club board are removed Parramatta has only failure in it's future .
How is Spagnolo my mate when I hammered more than most during his reign of fucks and have stated that he should never be involved with the the club in any capacity ?
Do you dribble shit for the sake of it or is it a generational thing with you ?
I never noticed this character much until recently. But Eel of 66 obviously has an agenda, Frankie. He's Bad Company. Got zero idea. A person to avoid at all costs. Poor NOS had to waste 5-10 minutes of his life responding to this pernicious character. Hopefully, this character continues to post so we can eventually find some excuse to kick him off the site. If I were Super, he'd be out yesterday.
Eel of 66 has been on here for ages HO.
He only comes on here to berate other posters.
He is 100% a Troll.
