THIS IS AN OPINION PIECEThere is no doubting that Jarryd Hayne is a super talented rugby league player. I most of our lifetimes there has been two other super outstanding players at our club( amongst many superstars). They are Peter Sterling & Brett Kenny. So where does Hayne stack up compared to these two.Like Hayne, Sterling & Kenny played Origin. They also went on atleast 2 long Kangaroo tours, played mid season tests, played many a final series, mid week comp, played the off season in the UK (both as absolute supreme rugby league players completely dominating the game) and yet still performed giving their heart & soulfor Parramatta every week. Compare this to Hayne who's talents are undisputed. Plays Origin, sits out for Parra twice.( leg injury bullshit). Often plays for Parra at half pace. Return the ball from a kick with a run punctuated by a skip. Is unable to deliver any kind of impact blow or any serious involvement against Souths even when for 65 minutes our fowards went toe to toe with Souths giving him the exact platform needed to allow him to perform.DO YOU GET THE PICTURE?WE HAVE ALL HEARD HOW GOOD YOU ARE JARRYD, WE JUST DONT SEEN IT OFTEN ENOUGH,TIME TO PULL YOU FINGER OUT AND MAN UP .ASK YOURSELF THIS BLOGGERS. WHO CAN HONESTLY SAY THE THINK JARRYD HANYE GIVES HIS GUTS FOR PARRA?IMO it's Sterling & Kenny first and daylight second. The Hayne plane is still on the Tarmac

  • KEN your spot on.......

  • "Return the ball from a kick with a run punctuated by a skip"

Did you see him return the ball from a kick with a run punctuated by a skip against the knights?

Here's a reminder in case you missed it...

    • Saw it ten times on Friday. Loved your video. Unfortunately it is the exception rather than the rule. Just reinforces my point. We don't see it often enough.
  • sterling
    Kenny
    hayne
  • Straight away Sterlo and Kenny ran the show and had a lot of good finishers.

Jarryd relies on others to organise and get him the ball, + then relies on others to finish.

Our halves are no Sterlo and Kenny and our centres/wingers are no Zip Zip, Crow or Grothe.

Also not to mention different eras.

I think its unfair to compare these 3 players.

  • Yeah he should make a 90 meter try every kick return. What's he thinking?

  • I've read a lot of match reports from the late 80's and early 90's recently and when Parra won it was because of Kenny and Sterlo. But they lost many games too. Hayne is the equivalent today, many games are won because of Hayne, but he can't win them all. I would say even!
  • Two different styles of players are Sterling and Hayne. Sterling could read the play and was 2 steps ahead of any player and was the best at putting players in a gap and directing traffic whether in attack or defence, none better than him in nrl past or present. Hayne best runner of the ball and making the space him self, strong, fast and passing and kicking both great players in their own rights and parra has been blessed to of had two great players who were and are both parra through and through.

  • Just sounds like your trying to dog Hayne. Not sure what your point is. I guess out of all the tripe what you might be trying say is sterling and kenny were more consistent which I'd agree with.
  • I wish Hayne could have been in a team when there was no salary cap. Would make his job a hell of a lot easier and therefore make his play a lot better.

"Use your own eyes on how Pezet played you'll come up with the same stuff.
Pezet is still in his infancy. He's just a stop gap fill in here so it doesn't matter too much what he looks like.Remember this Parra is doing him a favour not the other way…"
