Hayne to meet Semi

Make of this what you will, looks positive to meFIJI 7s Olympics squad member Jarryd Hayne is keeping his fingers crossed that he would meet Parramatta Eels Fijian Semi Radradra before the Taveuni man returns to Australia.Hayne yesterday confirmed to Times Sport that he has spoken to Radradra and knew that his former Eels teammate had been doing well."I spoke to Semi, he's doing OK but you know, you never know but hopefully I get to catch up with him, before he heads back," Hayne said.Radradra is back in the country to seek the blessings of his father as he hopes to switch to rugby union after what is expected to be a move to France. But the Hayne Plane wants to meet the Eels "trailblazer" Radradra and said he would help Radradra should the former Fiji 7s flyer needed it."It'll be good to catch up with him but you know he's his own man and I always told him I'm always here to chat and if he needs anything, am just a step away."I know he was in Suva the other day but we just missed each other and I was going out as he was coming in, hopefully we can catch up before he goes back or hopefully we can keep in contact," Hayne said. There have also been revelations that Parramatta is trying to reunite the duo with a $2m per year plan to reunite Semi Radradra and Jarryd Hayne at the club.

  • If Semi wants out after 2017, then go. Move on. Get Hayne back and keep Norman and Foz.
  • Maybe Bob. Semi needs a new manager I think...
  • Same.
  • If he goes it frees up space for the likes of Hayne and Norman, we still have to fit French, Taka, Gutho, Jennings and Foz into that backline as well - that's 7 players into 6 positions.

Hang on - maybe we should be giving Semi permission to negotiate, especially if he's leaving at the end of 2017 anyway. The other blokes all seem very committed to our club - maybe they are the ones that should be feeling the warmth of our loyalty.

If Semi's "his own man" he has had more than enough time to come out and let the fans know that they have nothing to worry about - surely he owes the fans that - we are the people that pay his and his families bills and we have copped alot this year - you would think he would be happy to put our minds at rest either way.

Maybe Semi's living in a bit of a fantasy land and is starting to believe his own publicity, Hayne may want to fill him in on what it's like living by yourself in the Northern Hemisphere - I've done it and it's not great, and I didn't grow up on an island in Fiji.

Sorry, but Semi is starting to seem a bit ungrateful and disrespectful toward the club, and the club is starting to sould a bit like a desperate spinster trying to woo an uninterested suitor.

Just make up your mind Semi - and get the f**k on with it. I've had enough of all the dicking around and so have all of the punters I have spoken to about it.

  • I'm worried about Hayne getting a semi after meeting Semi, given Snake's reporting that Hayne and Ian Thorpe were housemates in Seppo land.

  • I feel that the union thing is off the mark. I reckon Hayne is trying to get Semi to stay at the Eels. Hayne still loves the club and I reckon he would hate to see Semi leave especially if his head was not in the right place.
  • I agree. Hayne is wanting a Union mate.
  • Yeah I agree too, even though I agreed with the opposite to this 5 minutes ago. LOL
  • Ron, who knows what is happening? Parra have too many problems happening at the same time. Is Hayne coming or going. Is Semi coming or going. Is Foz coming or going.
  • I have looked up some info on Semi as wondering about his rise in the game when he was headlines last year, Wiki has the following.

    2013[edit]

In Round 18, Radradra made his NRL debut for the Eels against the Penrith Panthers on the wing in the Eels 17-10 loss at Parramatta Stadium.[5] In Round 20 against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Radradra scored his first NRL try in the Eels 40-12 loss at ANZ Stadium.[6] Radradra finished his debut year in the NRL with him playing in 7 matches and scoring 5 tries. Radradra was selected in the Fiji squad for the World Cup,[7] playing in 3 matches and scoring 1 try, in the 34-12 loss to England.[8]

    2014[edit]

In February, Radradra was selected in the Eels inaugural Auckland Nines squad and was the tournament's highest try scorer alongside the North Queensland Cowboys Kyle Feldt with 5 tries.[9] In Round 1 against the New Zealand Warriors, Radradra scored a hat-trick in the Eels' 36-16 win at Parramatta Stadium, earning the nickname Semi-Trailer.[10][11] In May, Radradra played for Fiji in the 2014 Pacific Rugby League International against Samoa at centre in the 32-16 loss.[12] On 4 June, Radradra re-signed with the Eels on a 4-year contract worth $1 million to the end of the 2018 season.[13] He was named 2014 Dally M Winger of the year.[14] Radradra played in all of the Eels 24 matches and scored 19 tries. He was awarded the Fiji Bati International Player of the Year Award.   I highlighted the interesting bit.

Did he sign for 4 years or 3 with Option?

There's little doubt about his ability & it really been a fast rise when all is said & done, & back when he signed on for $1m, that's a pretty fair deal when all is said & done, assuming its true, & lets not forget that sum is what is in the media, but others have said he's on $400K a year rather than the $250K the former would take him to $1.2M for 4yrs the later would be $95ok for 3, still not to be sniffed at & I wouldn't mind something like that with youth on my side after all he's just 24.

Little doubt he realizes his earning potential is more than he's now getting, & the French & Japanese RU may look attractive, but how many from Fiji are in those games now?  & as Kram has said the Northern Hemisphere may not be great, & wonder how he would like a Winter in Europe, bit different even to how it is feeling here today.

If he goes, I think we have potential in the lower grades but if he stays he will tie up some big money into the future, & one can only hope he continues to improve. It would be also easy for him to attract big money in sponsorship to lift his value, more if the NRL does not stifle his potential earnings for Semi & for the NRL, it likely provides an excellent RL advertiisment in a RU regional stronghold.
