The Hayne Plane

Jarryd Hayne has been sounded out by Fiji Bati, and given an opportunity to play in the upcoming games.

Hypothetically, if he goes alright and proves he's still a decent first grade level player, would you take him at parra?

The most naturally gifted player to ever play the game imo, at 36 I reckon he's still as good a player as Russell, Dunster ect...

Perhaps a spot on the wing a depth? Maybe not first choice but to have around. Jennings did it. If he can get down to his old playing weight and fitness levels I'd do it on minimum wage and I think Hayne would to.

Your thoughts? Of course this is just a thought, nothing too serious as it's off season.

    • Yep.

    • Ahah this is a very harsh assessment lol as much as I agree he was a bit of a knob.

    • I dont know if that's quiet right Cappy, up until his "incident" in the USA he was very well lauded,  for his virtual finishing of the Qld origin domination, he got his second Daily M and his exploits in getting picked up by the 49ers and the publicity he created were all past the 2009 run. He had magnificent results in a world cup and was on everyone's lips. He was a walking talking storyline for what he was achieving, notice I said "was". He didn't achieve it at the end, who knows what effect that had?

Yep all the faults and things that have been said on this blog are correct, BUT the context needs some qualification rather than Black and White determinations.

The Parramatta management from the paper bags to the disqualifications all sit on his baggage, but it was not his baggage. We being Parra, created the monster. If we had good player management and mentoring in a proper sense he may not have ended up in the shit that he has.

Empathy is not a dirty word or is equally something that we can all manage to support, if the incumbent is prepared to change. Second chances in life are something I have never had a problem in giving.

      • Still like your posts Poppa. You don't let any biases get in the way of telling it how it actually was for Hayne circa '09 to '14 and beyond. Respect.

        • Your most gracious Richard, my longest and most loyal supporter over all the years, I just said to my wife that I get a big kick out of your long time support.

      • Hayne should write a book on his life story. It would be great therapy for him and maybe a good one to read for a lot of players to help ground them with a reality which can take them to a place of self destruct with a perception of misguided fame

        • Good idea Taddy, I think it would be well read outside of the Rugby League community.

The trials and the tribulations have everything in it to make a HUGE story. Sex, Violence, Mystery and Intrigue.

Not only would it be good therapy but it may just alleviate the financial mess we assume he is in!

The best idea in this whole blog, throw in a fairytale comeback and I can see 2 Daily M's and Academy Award for the film rights LOL

          • I don't know Pops. Some simply can't handle success. Lots of humble people who have come to riches have some sad stories. Eg Elvis Presley and lots of others

  • Hayne is bigger than paulo atm  he can play back row, but wing will be a stretch
