Hayne move makes CNN

Although the newsline was straight after the English player being banned for 6 months for his punch, it's amazing the exposure the NRL is getting over the Hayne move to NFL.If he is successful - do you see the NFL taking a more serious approach to using the NRL as a feeding ground? Battling Union and the AFL is difficult enough but we have no chance retaining talent with the money in the NFL.Thoughts?

  • The thought crossed my mind, if successful the scouts will be circling.

    • More money for the working man, hey Waterboy ;) LOL

  • If Haynsey makes it, every player will think they could make it.
Remember we had to hear how willie mason would be ideal for it???? He probably should of taken the chance.
  • Of course it will its the Hayne hysteria and signalling his intention of playing NFL that has created self promotion!

Good on him! If ha can make the side and make them coin go for it!
  • Back in the early 80's there were a few European players in the NBA. Generally they had a reputation for being lazy etc etc.

Today, I think something like 20% of the players are foreign players and the Spurs who just won have few Americans. Anyway, point is, the NBA has grown enormously in the last 30 years by : 1. increasing the number of teams and 2.finding new markets like Australia who pay to watch. It was the players that paved the way for this to happen.

NFL is not an international sport so I doubt the same strategy would work, however you never know what they might try in order to grow the game. Maybe bringing in foreign players would appeal to the power brokers.

The NFL's handling of the player that knocked out his girlfriend in a lift was bloody terrible so management is capable of anything.

I can see where Mallee is coming from just the same. I thought when Joash played 5/8 last year he did well defensively and his passing and linking was not a problem. The problem with Pezet is his speed in defence,…"

"Pezet occupied the middle a lot last night and they combined nicely. Still growing pains but they both seem to be on same page in terms of the goal. They haven't gotten in each others way at the moment."
