  • Pretty much says what any objective rugby league supporter would say.

Bottom line is, for the Eels to be any chance at all of making the 8 this year IMO, they are likely going to need every single one of their chosen 17 man squad each and every week to play at their full potential every time they take the field. Some sides like the Dogs or the Storm or the Cows, might be able to underperform in any given week but still manage to jag wins. That just won't be good enough for the players we have in our squad. We won't be jagging wins if we're playing below our best.

  • Mirrors what Stuart has been saying, and I think it's the right attitude to have; "We are going to need to play and work as a team".

Shame he capped it all his good words off with, "I'm glad it's over. The fun stuff comes now. The hard work's been done."  Er, no.  The hard work's been done; the impossible mission is just beginning.

    • I think he may mean compared to conditioning, matches and skills training are a walk in the park...
  • All Hayne means by that is they got flogged in the pre season.Anyone that has played the game will tell you the fun part is actually playing, not too many players enjoy getting flogged at trainning.I also think its a positive thing for him to say "the fun stuff comes now", says to me that they are a happy group and are going to enjoy playing with each other as a team, bit different to the last couple years. So dont get to worried about Haynes comment..its a good thing.
  • Gotta love headlines. *sigh

    Pretty positive article actually.

If they play with heart and soul we can surprise.
